Hybrid optical switch using polymer waveguides and semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs)
1998 Proceedings. 48th Electronic Components and Technology Conference (Cat. No.98CH36206), 2002Optical switching can be performed by using optical amplifiers combined with a passive waveguiding network. Recently, most of the effort in optical amplifier switch modules has been focused on monolithic switches in which the entire device is fabricated on an InP substrate together with the semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs).

(OAF) All-Optical Amplify-and-forward Relaying technique is exploited to amplify, filter and forward the weak signal. It is also considered to be an easy method to increase the communicating distance of FSO systems [1]. The main drawback of existing relaying node is degradation of system’s bit error ratio (BER) and the value of optical signal to noise ...

High-power hybrid quasi-optical Ka-band amplifier design
Proceedings of 1995 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium, 2002We report the first demonstration of a quasi-optical millimeter-wave amplifier. The cell consists of a MMIC driver followed by a two-stage high power amplifier chip. Input as well as output antennas are anti-resonant slots fabricated on a GaAs monolithic antenna array. A 6/spl times/6 array is designed for an output power in excess of 8 Watts.

High-energy hybrid Raman optical parametric amplifier eye safe laser source
Applied Optics, 1994A high-energy eye safe laser source at 1.54 µm is demonstrated experimentally by using a hybrid system of stimulated Raman scattering and optical parametric amplification pumped by a single 1.06-µm Nd:YAG laser source. This system overcomes some of the technical problems that occur in conventional eye safe lasers, such as optical breakdown and thermal ...

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF HYBRID OPTICAL AMPLIFIER IN FIBER OPTICAL COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
13th International Conference on Fiber Optics and Photonics, 2016In this paper, we investigated the post, pre- and symmetrical power compensation methods consisting of hybrid optical amplifiers i.e. RAMAN-EDFA for different data formats such as non-return to zero (NRZ), return to zero (RZ). The results are compared in terms of bit error rate, Q-factor and output power.

Gain Saturation Analysis of Raman–Fiber Optical Parametric Hybrid Amplifier
Journal of Optical Communications, 2017AbstractWe demonstrate higher saturation powers for Raman and fiber optical parametric-cascaded amplifier (FOPA). Analysis of Raman-parametric amplifier cascade has been done for saturated gain regime. The second-order dispersion analysis of cascaded amplifier has been in the saturation region.
