World of Transport and Transportation, 2016
The authors presented a conceptual idea of a high-speed mainline with a maximum speed of 400–450 km/h. The use of rotary engines requires more energy at high speeds, there are difficulties with current collection, wheel-rail adhesion, etc. At the same time, the use of a linear traction motor at low speeds is not justified from an economic point of view,

A Hybrid Power System Laboratory: Testing Electric and Hybrid Propulsion
IEEE Electrification Magazine, 2019International shipping contributes to a major portion of global emissions. This is expected to grow at a faster pace due to economic and population growth. According to the Third Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Study 2014 of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the total shipping emissions during 2007-2012 were 3.1% of global CO2 emissions, 2.8% of ...

Hybrid-Electric Propulsion for Aircraft
Journal of Aircraft, 2015Against a background of increasing energy demand and rising fuel prices, hybrid-electric propulsion systems have the potential to significantly reduce fuel consumption in the aviation industry, particularly in the lighter sectors. By taking advantage of both electric motor and internal combustion engine, hybrid-electric propulsion systems provide not ...

Hybrid solar and laser propulsion
SPIE Proceedings, 2002Hybrid laser experiments have been conducted in a variety of high power/energy laser experiments: beat wave electron accelerators, rainbow and ignitor fusion, particle acceleration and double pulse laser propulsion schemes. Following our determination that the momentum coupling coefficient for burning targets is much higher than for cold targets, we ...

Leaping fishbot by combustion and propulsion hybrid actuation
Journal of Field Robotics, 2023AbstractAutonomous underwater vehicles have been extensively developed in the past decades and deployed for various ocean research activities. While the leaping‐out motions of underwater creatures have motivated the development of underwater robots with the motion ability to jump out of water, the dynamics of such jumping robots have not been fully ...

Development of a Hybrid Propulsion System
SNAME Propellers '84 Symposium, 1984For the propulsion of high speed vessels of the semi-displacement or planing type a propulsion system has been designed and tested at model scale which uses partially submerged controllable pitch propellers in semi-ducts for the high speed boost condition. For low speed cruising the same propellers operate fully wetted.

Trends in hybrid propulsion concepts
Proceedings of 14th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference EPE-PEMC 2010, 2010Nowadays many different types of hybrid propulsion systems exist. For independent traction, i.e. automotive drive systems especially, energy storage of driving medium is essential. The main task of hybrid propulsion is to diminish or totally eliminate green house gas (GHG) emissions.

Hybrid electric chemical propulsion
21st Joint Propulsion Conference, 1985Abstract : A spacecraft propulsion concept that uses a combination of electrical energy and chemical energy for thrust is explored using thermodynamic modeling calculations. The essence of this concept consists of adding a carefully chosen amount of O2 or F2 oxidizer to the propellant flow of a conventional H2 electrothermal thruster.

Hybrid propulsion transfers to the Moon
2012This work analyzes special Earth-Moon transfers that make use of both chemical and solar electric propulsion. A first high-thrust, low-Isp impulse is used to place the spacecraft into an exterior-like low-energy transfer to the Moon, possibly performing a lunar gravity assist.
