Hybrid electrolysis and membranes system for apple packing houses water treatment

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 2023
The apple industry uses high flows of potable quality water to transport and clean the apple, which is regularly contaminated. Thus, it is necessary to implement an efficient water treatment system during the industrial process, providing reductions in ...

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Optimization of hybrid PV-wind system: Case study Al-Tafilah cement factory, Jordan

open access: yes, 2018
Hybrid power systems provide cost-effective utilization of renewable energy but depend on the geographic location due to the variability of solar and wind resources.

A classical control approach to the power management of an all-electric hybrid vehicle. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Modern hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) often employ all-electric powertrains that utilise hybrid sources of power and energy; such as batteries, fuel cells and ultracapacitors.

Research Progress on the Influence of Cathode Materials on Thermal Runaway Behavior of Lithium-Ion Batteries

open access: yesBatteries
The structure, chemical composition, thermal stability, and abuse responses of cathode materials are critical to the safety and economy of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs).

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Target control for hybrid systems with linear continuous dynamics

open access: yes, 2001
We consider the target control problem for hybrid systems with linear continuous dynamics. The system is modelled as a hybrid automaton. Control action is applied on the discrete level, while the continuous dynamics is subject to constant or set valued ...

Multivariate Analysis of a Wind–PV-Based Water Pumping Hybrid System for Irrigation Purposes

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
The Green Deal and increased nutritional needs are driving factors in human activities nowadays. Agriculture is an essential economic sector that can profit from the application of renewable energy sources by the assimilation of off-grid, arid and barren

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.
