HSP70 governs permeability and mechanotransduction in primary human endothelial cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HSP70 chemical inhibition reduces endothelial cell proliferation and increases permeability, the latter supported by normal interendothelial junctional protein distribution. HSP70 also plays a role in shear stress response, a hemodynamic force naturally present in blood vessels and correlated with vessel protection.

Differential regulation of expression of the multiple ADP/ATP translocase genes in human cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
The expression of the genes encoding the three isoforms of the human ADP/ATP translocase (T1, T2, and T3) has been investigated in cultured cell systems under different experimental conditions, using isoform- specific probes.

"Hook"-calibration of GeneChip-microarrays: Theory and algorithm

open access: yesAlgorithms for Molecular Biology, 2008
Background: The improvement of microarray calibration methods is an essential prerequisite for quantitative expression analysis. This issue requires the formulation of an appropriate model describing the basic relationship between the probe intensity and

Overview of molecular signatures of senescence and associated resources: pros and cons

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cells can enter a stress response state termed cellular senescence that is involved in various diseases and aging. Detecting these cells is challenging due to the lack of universal biomarkers. This review presents the current state of senescence identification, from biomarkers to molecular signatures, compares tools and approaches, and highlights ...

Correlation with basic differentiation processes of neurons [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
The development of the spinal cord involves the proliferation of neurons, their migration to well-defined areas, fiber outgrowth and synapse formation. The present study was designed to correlate the spatiotemporal pattern of expression of synaptophysin,

Impact of a senior research thesis on students' perceptions of scientific inquiry in distinct student populations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study addressed how a senior research thesis is perceived by undergraduate students. It assessed students' perception of research skills, epistemological beliefs, and career goals in Biochemistry (science) and BDC (science‐business) students. Completing a thesis improved confidence in research skills, resilience, scientific identity, closed gender‐

Hybridization Analysis Using Oligonucleotide Probe Arrays

open access: yes, 2007
This chapter describes methodology for the labeling, hybridization, and detection of amplicon target DNA to arrays of oligonucleotide probes attached to plastic substrates. A systematic approach to target discrimination based on both hybridization and wash stringency is provided.
