Hybridoma autoantibodies to DNA.
The Journal of Immunology, 1980Abstract MRL/1 mice develop a severe form of systemic lupus erythematosus and spontaneously produce high levels of autoantibodies to DNA. Spleen cells from these animals were used as fusion partners to prepare hybridomas that produce autoantibodies to DNA.

1980
Kohler and Milstein (1975) launched a new era in immunological research by showing that somatic cell hybridization could be used to generate a continuous “hybridoma” cell line producing a monoclonal antibody. The hybridoma technology has already fulfilled one of the major goals that immunologists have been trying to achieve for years: the routine ...

Secretion of Thymidine by Hybridoma Cells [PDF]
Hybridoma cells secrete a factor (referred to in the following as ITI: inhibitor of radioactive thymidine incorporation) which inhibits incorporation of radioactive thymidine into cells 1. Of other cells tested, only myeloma cells were found to secrete ITI 2.

Cryopreservation of newly formed hybridomas
Journal of Immunological Methods, 1983A new freezing technique is described which permits time-consuming protocols as a first screening of newly formed hybridomas. In this procedure complete 96 well clustertrays with growing hybridomas are cryopreserved after programmed freezing. This procedure has been successfully applied to a number of fusion protocols for which the objective was to ...

Creating hybridomas by electrofusion
Nature, 1988Electromanipulation has long been used to form pores in cell membranes to transfect them with foreign DNA. Now, the technique has been extended to the preparation of hybridomas.
