Small Alcohols as Surfactants and Hydrate Promotors

open access: yesFluids, 2021
Many methods to produce hydrate reservoirs have been proposed in the last three decades. Thermal stimulation and injection of thermodynamic hydrate inhibitors are just two examples of methods which have seen reduced attention due to their high cost ...

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

The Thermodynamic and Kinetic Effects of Sodium Lignin Sulfonate on Ethylene Hydrate Formation

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Hydrate-based technologies (HBTs) have high potential in many fields. The industrial application of HBTs is limited by the low conversion rate of the water into hydrate (RWH), and sodium lignin sulfonate (SLS) has the potential to solve the above problem.

Inhibition of CDK9 enhances AML cell death induced by combined venetoclax and azacitidine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The CDK9 inhibitor AZD4573 downregulates c‐MYC and MCL‐1 to induce death of cytarabine (AraC)‐resistant AML cells. This enhances VEN + AZA‐induced cell death significantly more than any combination of two of the three drugs in AraC‐resistant AML cells.

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.

Evaluation of in vitro toxicity of common phytochemicals included in weight loss supplements using 1H NMR spectroscopy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated the toxicity of 12 active compounds commonly found in herbal weight loss supplements (WLS) using human liver and colon cell models. Epigallocatechin‐3‐gallate was the only compound showing significant toxicity. Metabolic profiling revealed protein degradation, disrupted energy and lipid metabolism suggesting that the inclusion of EGCG ...

Thermo-pressure coupling model for gas hydrate depressurization exploitation in South China Sea

open access: yesEnergy Exploration & Exploitation
The sediment type in the “Shenhu” sea area of the South China Sea is mud sediment, with poor reservoir physical conditions, and the seabed is loose with a small pressure window.

Decomposition Characterizations of Methane Hydrate Confined inside Nanoscale Pores of Silica Gel below 273.15 K

open access: yesCrystals, 2019
The formation and decomposition of gas hydrates in nanoscale sediments can simulate the accumulation and mining process of hydrates. This paper investigates the Raman spectra of water confined inside the nanoscale pores of silica gel, the decomposition ...
