Chip Removal by a Hydraulic Jet

Society of Petroleum Engineers Journal, 1964
Abstract Although adequate removal of cuttings from beneath a drill bit is important for efficient drilling operations, very little basic data are available relative to the fundamentals of chip removal by hydraulic jets. A discussion is presented in this paper of an experimental investigation of the jetting action of hydraulic jets in ...

Internal Hydraulics of a Chlorine Jet Diffuser

Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 2017
AbstractMultiport diffusers are used in many environmental applications to distribute a discharge flow uniformly through a number of jet nozzles into the same or another fluid.

The Hydraulic Jump as a Well Jet

Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1965
An attempt to study the mechanics of the hydraulic jump, treating it as a plane turbulent wall jet under adverse pressure gradient, is presented. Extensive measurements have been made regarding the pressure field, velocity distribution, and the boundary shear stress in the jump for nine supercritical Froude numbers from 2.68 to 9.78.

Simulation Analysis of Hydraulic Jet Pump

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
Hydraulic jet pump is one of the mixing-reaction equipments using high-speed jet for work force to deliver energy and mass of fluid. Many factors affect the efficiency of this pump, and the mechanism is very complex. The present work aims to study the influence of different hydraulic structures on the efficiency.

Hydraulics of Surface Buoyant Jet

Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1976
The spreading of a jet discharge horizontally at the surface of a quiescent receiving water of slightly larger density is investigated, assuming that the bulk Richardson number is moderate. The derivation of the basic flow equation, including conservation of mass, is briefly mentioned. Using perturbation theory two different approximations are obtained.

Hydraulic Characteristics of Hollow-Jet Valves

Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1959
For free discharge conditions the hollow-jet valve has proved to be a satisfactory control device for flows through large conduits operating under high heads. Results of field tests with a 96-inch hollow-jet valve have revealed close agreement with hydraulic characteristics predicted from model studies.

Jet Boosting in Hydraulic Dredging

Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1975
The introduction of a jet boost into the suction line of hydraulic dredgers is employed widely, the objective being to enhance production without increasing the capacity of the main dredge pump. Claims have been made for substantial increases in uptake of bed materials by in-line boosting but because of the inherent variability of dredging conditions ...
