Effect of Fluorine Substitution on the Aromaticity of Polycyclic Hydrocarbons

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2012
The effect of fluorine substitution on the aromaticity of polycyclic hydrocarbons (PAH) is investigated. Magnetically induced current densities, current pathways, and current strengths, which can be used to assess molecular aromaticity, are calculated using the gauge-including magnetically induced current method (GIMIC).

Investigation on the diffusivity of partly fluorinated hydrocarbons in polymers

Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 2003
As partly fluorinated hydrocarbons (HFCs) are increasingly used in refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump applications to replace formerly used chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and hydrochlorofluorocarbons which are made responsible for stratospheric ozone depletion, the knowledge about the interactions of HFCs and potential sealing materials becomes ...

The absorption and retention of inhaled fluorinated hydrocarbon vapours

The International Journal of Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 1972
Radioactive tracer techniques were used to measure the partition coefficients of four aliphatic fluorinated hydrocarbons in olive oil and serum. These compounds were shown to have a low lipid solubility compared to the aliphatic chlorinated hydrocarbons.

Molecular Mechanics (MM4) Study of Fluorinated Hydrocarbons

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2006
A molecular mechanics study of small saturated hydrocarbons (up to C-6) substituted by up to six fluorines has been carried out with the MM4 force field. A parameter set has been developed for use in the calculation of bond lengths, bond angles, torsion angles, conformational energies, barriers to rotation, dipole moments, moments of inertia, and ...

Infra-red Spectra of Fluorinated Hydrocarbons

Nature, 1954
WE have recently examined for analytical purposes the infra-red spectra of some fully fluorinated hydrocarbons. Complex interactions occur in compounds of this type, and it is not to be expected that the absorption frequencies of any particular structural group will be constant: but nevertheless some regularities have been observed which may be useful.

A study of premixed hydrocarbon-fluorine flames

Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1979
Spectra of premixed flames of fluorine with methane, ethane and propane were studied at pressures between 3 and 8 Torr. Three continua were observed: the C3 continuum: a continuum in the 250 to 340 nm region, very likely due to the recombination of fluorine atoms; and a continuous emission due to solid carbon (Cs).
