Molecular Mechanics (MM4) Study of Fluorinated Hydrocarbons

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2006
A molecular mechanics study of small saturated hydrocarbons (up to C-6) substituted by up to six fluorines has been carried out with the MM4 force field. A parameter set has been developed for use in the calculation of bond lengths, bond angles, torsion angles, conformational energies, barriers to rotation, dipole moments, moments of inertia, and ...

Unraveling the hydrophobic interaction mechanisms of hydrocarbon and fluorinated surfaces

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2023
Numerous hydrocarbon and fluorine-based hydrophobic surfaces have been widely applied in various engineering and bioengineering fields. It is hypothesized that the hydrophobic interactions of hydrocarbon and fluorinated surfaces in aqueous media would show some differences. The hydrophobic interactions of hydrocarbon and fluorinated surfaces with air ...

Infra-red Spectra of Fluorinated Hydrocarbons

Nature, 1954
WE have recently examined for analytical purposes the infra-red spectra of some fully fluorinated hydrocarbons. Complex interactions occur in compounds of this type, and it is not to be expected that the absorption frequencies of any particular structural group will be constant: but nevertheless some regularities have been observed which may be useful.

Catalyst layers for fluorine‐free hydrocarbon PEMFCs

Electrochimica Acta, 2022
Abstract Herein, we study catalyst ink composition on the current-voltage characteristics of fuel cells incorporating fully hydrocarbon-based membrane-electrode-assemblies. The membrane and ionomer used for these studies is sulfo-phenylated poly(phenylene) biphenyl (sPPB-H+).

A study of premixed hydrocarbon-fluorine flames

Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1979
Spectra of premixed flames of fluorine with methane, ethane and propane were studied at pressures between 3 and 8 Torr. Three continua were observed: the C3 continuum: a continuum in the 250 to 340 nm region, very likely due to the recombination of fluorine atoms; and a continuous emission due to solid carbon (Cs).

Low-temperature fluorination of aerosol suspensions of hydrocarbons utilizing elemental fluorine

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 1981
Abstract : This document concludes the Office of Naval Research sponsored development of the Aerosol Fluorination Process and attendant chemistry. The introduction outlines and highlights the findings and conclusions of the twelve preceding technical reports spanning the period beginning September 1, 1977 and ending March 30, 1984.

MIXTURES OF FLUORINATED HYDROCARBONS AS REFRIGERANT ANESTHETIC

A.M.A. Archives of Dermatology, 1956
At the present stage of knowledge we believe it is necessary to warn against the use in surgical skin planing of the mixture of 57% dichlorodifluoromethane (Freon 12) and 43% dichlorotetrafluoroethane (Freon 114) as advocated recently. 1 Unless it is employed with caution and in experienced hands, it is likely that congelational necrosis and sloughing ...

Expeditious synthesis of fluorinated styrylbenzenes and polyaromatic hydrocarbons

Tetrahedron Letters, 2013
A series of fluorinated styrylbenzene derivatives were synthesized by the Mizoroki–Heck reaction using phosphine-free catalytic conditions or by adopting the one-pot Wittig–Heck reaction sequence. The fluorinated styrylbenzenes were converted into polyaromatic hydrocarbons such as phenanthrenes, [4]helicenes, and benzo[ghi]perylene by a modified ...
