Formic Acid Pursues Efficient Hydrodeoxygenation of Naphthols and Phenolic Derivatives to Arenes. [PDF]
An alternative hydrodeoxygenation of naphthols and phenols using a commercial heterogeneous catalyst, Pd/C, employing formic acid as LOHC is reported. We outline a substrate scope for the HDO of different naphthols and phenols, including pharmaceutically relevant molecules such as amylmetacresol and thymol.

TiO2-Supported Ru-Fe Catalysts for the Hydrodeoxygenation of Bis(2-hydroxyethyl) Terephthalate (BHET) Prepared by the Glycolysis of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET). [PDF]
Plastic waste serves as a source of petrochemical feedstocks. Bis(2‐hydroxyethyl) terephthalate (BHET) obtained from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) underwent hydrodeoxygenation to saturated C6–C8 cycloalkanes over Ru/Fe/TiO2. Proximity between Ru and Fe oxide depleted the electron density of Ru, modulated its catalytic activity, and suppressed ...

Adaptive Rhodium Catalysis with a Lewis‑Acidic Secondary Sphere for Divergent Hydrogenation of Propargylic Alcohols. [PDF]
Adaptive rhodium catalysis with a Lewis‐acidic secondary sphere enables divergent hydrogenation of propargylic alcohols into alkynes, allylic ethers, or alkenes. Catalyst design and condition‐dependent pathways provide practical guidance for chemoselectivity control.

Molecular nitrogen promotes catalytic hydrodeoxygenation [PDF]
Although molecular dinitrogen (N2) is widely used as a carrier or inert gas for many catalytic reactions, it is rarely considered as a catalytic promoter. Here, we report that N2 could be used to reduce the activation energy for catalytic hydrodeoxygenation over ruthenium-based catalysts.

Synthesis of Renewable High-Density Fuel with Vanillin and Cyclopentanone Derived from Hemicellulose
1,3-bis(cyclohexylmethyl)cyclopentane, a renewable high-density fuel, was first produced in a high overall carbon yield (79.5%) with vanillin and cyclopentanone, which can be derived from biomass. The synthetic route used in this work contains two steps.
