Hydrodynamic and Acoustic Performance Analysis of Marine Propellers by Combination of Panel Method and FW-H Equations

open access: yesMathematical and Computational Applications, 2019
The noise emitted by ships is one of the most important noises in the ocean, and the propeller noise is one of the major components of the ship noise. Measuring the propeller noise in a laboratory, despite the high accuracy and good reliability, has high

Effect of channel geometry on a density wave induced by gravity and chemoconvection in miscible reacting fluids

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
We study a two-layer system of initially separated aqueous solutions of an acid and a base placed in a vertically oriented Hele–Shaw cell. After the reactants, a second-order neutralization reaction begins, which is accompanied by the release of salt ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Inverse Identification of Energy‐Dependent Laser Absorptivity in NiTi Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion via Calibrated Melt Pool Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined experimental–computational framework identifies energy‐dependent laser absorptivity for NiTi in laser powder‐bed fusion, applicable to conduction and transition modes. Single‐track experiments and thermofluid smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations are coupled through inverse analysis of melt pool geometry.

Feasibility of Nitrogen as a Carrier Gas for Inconel Cold Spray in Hydropower Application

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
N2, despite being nearly two orders of magnitude cheaper than He, is a feasible carrier gas for cold spray Inconel coatings in hydropower repair applications when higher gas temperature and pressure are used. Reducing powder size significantly improved cavitation resistance, while the addition of fine chromium carbide particles further enhanced erosion
