Addition of Hydrogen Sulfide to Juglone

Environmental Science & Technology, 2002
Evidence of the addition of hydrogen sulfide to 5-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone (juglone) in aqueous solution was obtained by nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry (NMR), electron paramagnetic resonance spectrometry (EPR), UV-visible absorbance spectroscopy, and kinetic measurements.

Asymmetric hydrogenation of indene carboxylic acids: stereochemistry of hydrogen addition

Tetrahedron: Asymmetry, 1999
Abstract The stereochemistry of hydrogen addition to α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acids was studied by means of hydrogenation of indene carboxylic acids and their derivatives. Experiments were carried out over Pd/Al2O3 in the presence and absence of cinchonidine as a chiral modifier.

Conjugated Additions in Hydrogen Fluoride

Angewandte Chemie International Edition in English, 1969
AbstractFluorine and another substituent can be added in a single step to compounds having CC double bonds in anhydrous hydrogen fluoride. It is possible in this way to obtain e.g. α‐fluorinated β‐halogeno, β‐alkyl, β‐nitro, and β‐amino compounds, and also (in some cases by secondary reactions) fluorinated ethers, alcohols, esters, and carboxylic acids,

An instance of trans-hydrogen addition in catalytic homogeneous hydrogenation

Journal of the Chemical Society D: Chemical Communications, 1969
Reduction of diphenylacetylene with deuterium gas using the py3RhCl3–Me2N·CHO–NaBH4 catalyst system is found to involve deuterium incorporation at the ortho-position of the phenyl group of the product, trans-stilbene, considered to arise by a mechanism of ortho-deuteriation accompanied by 1,3-hydride shift.
