Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

2,4,5-Trimethoxybenzaldehyde monohydrate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2010
In the title compound, C10H12O4·H2O, the 2,4,5-trimethoxybenzaldehyde molecule is almost planar (rms deviation = 0.0183 Å). There is an R12(5) ring motif due to O—H...O hydrogen bonding. In the crystal, the molecules

Interplay between Position-Dependent Codon Usage Bias and Hydrogen Bonding at the 5ʹ End of ORFeomes

open access: yesmSystems, 2020
Codon usage bias exerts control over a wide variety of molecular processes. The positioning of synonymous codons within coding sequences (CDSs) dictates protein expression by mechanisms such as local translation efficiency, mRNA Gibbs free energy, and ...

Determining the DNA stability parameters for the breathing dynamics of heterogeneous DNA by stochastic optimization

open access: yes, 2011
We suggest that the thermodynamic stability parameters (nearest neighbor stacking and hydrogen bonding free energies) of double-stranded DNA molecules can be inferred reliably from time series of the size fluctuations (breathing) of local denaturation ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Self-Assembly Motifs of Water in Crystals of Palladium β-Amino Acid Complexes Influenced by Methyl Substitution on the Amino Acid Backbone

open access: yesCrystals, 2019
Amino acid complexes of transition metals show interesting hydrogen-bonding motifs. In this paper, the syntheses and structures of three β-amino acid complexes of palladium that differ only by the substitution on the β-carbon will be discussed.

The effect of protein backbone hydration on the amide vibrations in Raman and Raman optical activity spectra [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Raman and specifically Raman optical activity (ROA) spectroscopy are very sensitive to the solution structure and conformation of biomolecules. Because of this strong conformational sensitivity, density functional theory (DFT) calculations are often used

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Crystal structure of chlorido[1-(4-nitrophenyl)thiourea-κS]bis(triphenylphosphane-κP)silver(I)

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2017
In the title compound, [AgCl(C7H7N3O2S)(C18H15P)2], the AgI ion is in a distorted tetrahedral coordination environment formed by P atoms from two triphenylphosphane ligands, one terminal S atom from the 1-(4-nitrophenyl)thiourea ligand and a chloride ion.

Mechanistic insights of the controlled release capacity of polar functional group in transdermal drug delivery system: the relationship of hydrogen bonding strength and controlled release capacity

open access: yesActa Pharmaceutica Sinica B, 2020
Background: Hydrogen bonding interaction was considered to play a critical role in controlling drug release from transdermal patch. However, the quantitative evaluation of hydrogen bonding strength between drug and polar functional group was rarely ...
