Ethanol sprays to release grapevine bud dormancy: a potential alternative to cyanamides

open access: yesOENO One, 2019
Aim: Grape growers sometimes use cyanamides (calcium or hydrogen) to release bud dormancy in warm climate regions, where the chilling requirement has not been met during winter.

Influence of Metal Species and Content of Fe‐Ni‐Poly(heptazine imides) on their Properties as Electrocatalysts for Zinc‐Air Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, Volume 16, Issue 11, 18 March 2026.
Iron/nickel‐modified poly(heptazine imides) are efficient, low‐cost bifunctional electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction and evolution reactions in aqueous zinc–air batteries. Iron enhances oxygen reduction, while nickel single‐atoms deliver oxygen evolution activity comparable to RuO2.

Arginase from kiwifruit: properties and seasonal variation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
The in vitro activity of arginase (EC 3.5.3.1) was investigated in youngest-mature leaves and roots (1-3 mm diameter) of kiwifruit vines (Actinidia deliciosa var. deliciosa) during an annual growth cycle, and enzyme from root material partially purified.

Reduction in Central H2O2 Levels Prevents Voluntary Ethanol Intake in Mice: A Role for the Brain Catalase- H2O2 System in Alcohol Binge Drinking [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background: Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is the cosubstrate used by the enzyme catalase to form Compound I (the catalase-H2O2 system), which is the major pathway for the conversion of ethanol (EtOH) into acetaldehyde in the brain.
