Hydrogen trapping at edge dislocations in α-Fe: a master curve for combined effect of gaseous hydrogen environment and external load

open access: yesMaterials & Design
We quantify hydrogen trapping at α-Fe edge dislocations under combined mechanical loading and gaseous hydrogen environments using grand-canonical Monte Carlo simulations. The trapped hydrogen content collapses onto a master relationship which is emerging

A Functional 2D Carbon Allotrope Combining Nanoporous Graphene and Biphenylene Segments

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis of a novel nanoporous graphene (NPG) is reported with biphenylene segments via thermal fusion of 12‐armchair porous graphene nanoribbons grown on gold surfaces. Characterization using STM, AFM, and DFT reveals low‐defect semiconducting behaviour and tunable band gaps.

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Evolutionary Relationship Between Microstructure and Hydrogen Distribution During the Tensile of Pipeline Girth Welds

open access: yesMetals
Hydrogen trapping is a key mechanism to mitigate hydrogen embrittlement (HE) in pipeline steels, yet how trapping behavior evolves during plastic deformation and which microstructural features are responsible remain poorly understood.

3D Anodic Alumina Nanoarchitectures: A Decade of Progress from Foundational Science to Functional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ordered three‐dimensional anodic aluminum oxide (3D‐AAO) nanoarchitectures with longitudinal and transverse pores enable architecture‐driven metamaterials. The review maps fabrication advances, including hybrid pulse anodization, and shows how 3D‐AAO templates tailor properties across magnetism, energy, catalysis, and sensing.
