Molecular characterization and functional annotation of a hypothetical protein (SCO0618) of A3(2) [PDF]
Streptomyces coelicolor is a gram-positive soil bacterium which is well known for the production of several antibiotics used in various biotechnological applications. But numerous proteins from its genome are considered hypothetical proteins.

Analysis of Bacterial Isolates Capable of Partially Degrading Polyethylene Terephthalate [PDF]
In this work, we studied 46 bacterial isolates to determine their potential for polyethylene terephthalate (PET) degradation. Only eight lipase-positive isolates were pre-selected to continue analysis.

Enzymes in the Content of Combined Antimicrobials as Improvers of Their Action
Accumulating information about the growing number of microorganisms that are resistant to the antibiotics used, on the one hand, and the emergence of information about the presence of laboratories in which closed work is carried out with microbial ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Stereochemical aspects of the nucleophilic attack in different classes of l-asparaginases
L-Asparaginases hydrolyze L-asparagine to L-aspartate with the release of ammonia. Currently, three completely unrelated structural classes of L-asparaginases are known, further subdivided into five types.

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...
