Visualizing Hydrophobic and Hydrophilic Enzyme Interactions during Immobilization by Means of Infrared Microscopy

open access: yesCatalysts, 2022
A novel Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) microscopy method was developed and used to analyze the diffusion of lipase CalB in two different resins during immobilization. The method consisted of a streamlined sample preparation process and an automated transmission FT-IR microscopic measurement using a commercial benchtop device.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Role of Hydrogen-Bonding and OH−π Interactions in the Adhesion of Epoxy Resin on Hydrophilic Surfaces

open access: yesACS Omega, 2020
Epoxy resin adhesives are widely used for joining metal alloys in various industrial fields. To elucidate the adhesion mechanism microscopically, we investigated the interfacial interactions of epoxy resin with hydroxylated silica (0 0 1) and γ-alumina ...

Is Young's Modulus a Critical Coating Property Determining Fouling‐Release Performance of Marine Coatings?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The release of foulers from protective marine coatings is determined by several interrelated material properties, including the strength of Young's modulus, the flexibility of chain segments, the surface free energy, and the magnitude of hydrodynamic stress.

Sustainable Synthesis of Bio‐Based Magnetic and Conductive Wood for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A wood‐based magnetic and conductive material called Magwood (MW), capable of blocking almost 99.99% of electromagnetic waves (in the X‐band frequency range), is synthesized using a simple, solvent‐free process. MW is lightweight, resists water, and is flame‐retardant, making it a promising alternative for shielding electronics. The rapid proliferation
