Scheduling of hydrothermal power systems
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1993The authors present a method for scheduling hydrothermal power systems based on the Lagrangian relaxation technique. By using Lagrange multipliers to relax system-wide demand and reserve requirements, the problem is decomposed and converted into a two-level optimization problem.

Optimal Scheduling Of Large Hydrothermal Power Systems
IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1985In this paper we present a new algorithm to find the optimal unit commitment and economic dispatch (UC/D) for a large hydrothermal power system. Mathematically, this is a large nonlinear, mixed integer optimization problem involving over 16,800 integer variables for a system having 100 thermal units with a 1-week scheduling horizon.

Hydrothermal scheduling based Lagrangian relaxation approach to hydrothermal coordination
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1998This paper presents an improved Lagrangian relaxation based hydrothermal coordination algorithm. By using Lagrangian multipliers to relax system-wide demand and reserve requirements, the problem is decomposed into thermal and hydro subproblems. The thermal subproblem is solved by using dynamic programming without discretizing generation levels. Instead

Modelling and Optimization of Hydrothermal Generation Scheduling
IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1984An approach is proposed to optimize the operation of energy production systems over middle term planning periods. Randomness of primary load is explicitly considered. A precise model is used to represent the hydraulic system (with individualized reservoir in cascade, water transportation delays, nonlinear generation, ...) as well as the non-hydraulic ...

Short-term environmental/economic hydrothermal scheduling
Electric Power Systems Research, 2014Abstract This paper proposes a new technique based on lexicographic optimization and ɛ-constraint method to solve the combined economic emission scheduling problem of hydrothermal systems comprising several equality constraints as well as non-equality ones. The hydrothermal scheduling problem is modeled as a multi-objective problem with two objective

Genetic algorithm based hydrothermal generation scheduling
2015 International Conference on Recent Developments in Control, Automation and Power Engineering (RDCAPE), 2015In large electrical power generation systems the integrated operation of hydro and thermal power stations is considered to be more economical as compared to thermal power generation. Integrated operation results in optimum utilization of all energy sources in the most economical manner, to provide an uninterrupted supply to the consumers.

A bundle method for hydrothermal scheduling
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1999Lagrangian relaxation has been widely used in hydrothermal scheduling. Complicating constraints are relaxed by multipliers which are usually updated by a subgradient method (SGM). The SGM suffers from slow convergence caused by the nondifferentiable characteristics of dual functions.

Short term multi-objective hydrothermal scheduling
Electric Power Systems Research, 2015Abstract This paper investigates the short-term environmental/economic hydrothermal scheduling problem. The multi-objective optimization framework is proposed to model the Short-term Hydro Thermal Scheduling (SHTS) problem, while two competing objective functions are supposed to be minimized, simultaneously.

An hybrid technique to hydrothermal scheduling
2005 International Power Engineering Conference, 2005This paper reports on a new hybrid method to solve the short-term operation planning problem of hydrothermal power systems. It uses evolutionary programming to determine the optimal schedules of all hydro and thermal power plants in a closed optimization. Neural network is trained to satisfy the volume constraint imposed by the hydro plant.

Fuel constrained short-term hydrothermal generation scheduling
Energy, 2022Abstract Due to gradually diminution of fossil fuel, the cost-effective utilization of available fuel for power generation has turn out to be a vital concern of electric power utilities. Thermal power plants have to operate within their fuel confines and contractual constraints. This work suggests social group entropy optimization (SGEO) technique to
