Pediatric Gamma Hydroxybutyrate Intoxication

Academic Emergency Medicine, 1997
ABSTRACTReported are 2 uncommon cases of childhood gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB) toxicity and the surreptitious manner in which GHB was made. Two children unintentionally ingested a soft drink containing GHB and were found comatose. Both had been well 1 hour earlier.

Poly(hydroxybutyrate)

2009
Abstract Properties of Special Interest Biocompatibility and biodegradability. Biologically produced PHB is a semicrystalline isotactic stereoregular polymer of 100% R configuration that allows a high level of degradability. PHB is obtained by fermentation of bacteria capable of biosynthesizing polyesters as energy storage media.

A potential new metabolite of gamma-hydroxybutyrate: sulfonated gamma-hydroxybutyric acid

International Journal of Legal Medicine, 2015
Detection of gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) became crucial in many clinical and forensic settings due to its increasing use for recreational purposes and drug-facilitated sexual assault. Its narrow window of detection of about 3-12 h in urine represents a major problem. Analogous to ethyl glucuronide, the recently identified GHB-glucuronide exhibits a

Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-4-hydroxybutyrate) formation fromγ-aminobutyrate and glutamate

Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 2000
To provide 4-hydroxybutyryl-CoA for poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-4-hydroxybutyrate) formation from glutamate in Escherichia coli, an acetyl-CoA:4-hydroxybutyrate CoA transferase from Clostridium kluyveri, a 4-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase from Ralstonia eutropha, a gamma-aminobutyrate:2-ketoglutarate transaminase from Escherichia coli, and glutamate ...

Succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase deficiency (SSADH) (4-hydroxybutyric aciduria, γ-hydroxybutyric aciduria)

European Journal of Paediatric Neurology, 2004
Succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase deficiency is one of the disorders of GABA metabolism, so it is not surprising that seizures occur as one of the symptoms in affected patients. Other features that are described include delayed development, hypotonia, myopathy with ragged red fibres, abnormal behaviour, and ocular abnormalities.

Nocturnal γ-Hydroxybutyrate

Clinical Neuropharmacology, 1989
Periodic leg movements during sleep (PMS) is a disorder frequently encountered in narcolepsy. In the present study, 12 narcoleptic patients (six with PMS and six without) were recorded in a sleep laboratory for 2 consecutive nights before and after treatment with gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB) taken at bedtime for 1 month.
