This study was to evaluate the role of GH in lipolysis and insulin sensitivity in bovine adipocytes and clarify the underlying mechanism. Our findings demonstrate that GH activates ERK/HSL signaling pathway, promotes lipolysis, and impairs insulin sensitivity in bovine adipocytes.

Poly-β-hydroxybutyrate in staphylococci [PDF]
Staphylococci--chemoorganotrophic bacteria whose main habitats are human and animal organisms--can accumulate poly-beta-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) in their cells. The polymer is metabolized in endogenous turnovers preceding degradation of aminoacids, proteins and RNA. PHB depolymerase was not found in staphylococci but beta-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase was

(1) Kbhb modification of FBP1 and PCK1 is involved in regulation of the gluconeogenesis pathway. (2) Kbhb of FBP1 and PCK1 is catalyzed by p300 and removed by HDACs. (3) BHB induced an increase in the enzymatic activity of FBP1 and PCK1 through Kbhb modification at the K43 site of FBP1 and the K191 site of PCK1.

Biorefinery of biomass of agro-Industrial banana waste to obtain high-value biopolymers [PDF]
On a worldwide scale, food demand is increasing as a consequence of global population growth. This makes companies push their food supply chains’ limits with a consequent increase in generation of large amounts of untreated waste that are considered of ...

The transition period in dairy cows, spanning 3 weeks before and after calving, is a critical phase characterized by increased nutrient demands, reduced dry matter intake (DMI), and elevated risk of metabolic disorders such as negative nutrient balance (NNB), lipolysis, proteolysis, and oxidative stress.

Recovery and characterization of poly(3-Hydroxybutyric acid) synthesized in Staphylococcus epidermidis [PDF]
Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) are biodegradable polyesters accumulated intracellularly as energy resources by bacterial species. In this study, fermentation process for production of PHA is carried out using sesame oil as carbon source. We studied recovery

Unregulated inflammation increases non‐esterified fatty acids (NEFAs), and triggers multi‐pathway hepatocyte damage including oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and metabolic disorders in dairy cows. ABSTRACT Circulating concentrations of nonesterified fatty acids (NEFAs) are elevated due to lipid mobilization from adipose tissue in ...

Objective Cardiac involvement is a major cause of morbidity in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Tumor necrosis factor–like weak inducer of apoptosis (TWEAK) is elevated in SLE, but its contribution to lupus‐associated cardiac injury is unclear. We investigated the role of TWEAK/fibroblast growth factor–inducible 14 (Fn14) signaling in SLE‐related ...

PHB-rich biomass and BioH2 production by means of photosynthetic microorganisms [PDF]
Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are a family of biopolyesters produced by many bacteria as intracellular storage carbon and energy source. Poly-β-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) is probably the most common type of PHA.
