Estrogen Hydroxylation in Osteoporosis
2007Estrogen is metabolized predominantly via two competing pathways, the 2-hydroxyl (nonestrogenic) and the 16alpha-hydroxyl (estrogenic) pathways. Studies have indicated that these pathways are important determinants of bone mineral density (BMD) in postmenopausal women.

Hydroxylation of Alkylbenzenes
Journal of the Fuel Society of Japan,

The microbiological hydroxylation of levonorgestrel
Natural Product Research, 2006The microbial transformation of levonorgestrel (1) by Cunningham elegans resulted in the formation of five hydroxylated metabolites, 13-ethyl-10beta, 17beta-dihydroxy-18,19-dinor-17alpha-pregn-4-en-20-yn-3-one(2), 13-ethyl-6beta,17beta-dihydroxy-18,19-dinor-17alpha-pregn-4-en-20-yn-3-one (3) 13-ethyl 6beta, 10beta, 17beta-trihydroxy-18,19-dinor-17alpha-

Hydroxylated Kininogens and Kinins
1992Hydroxyprolyl-3-bradykinin was identified in the digest of purified human high molecular weight (H) kininogen with plasma kallikrein. Hydroxyproline was not detected in the heavy and light chains portions of H kininogen, although they include three possible sites for hydroxylation of proline by proline hydroxylase.

INTRODUCTIONThe hydroxyl-radical footprinting methodology has wide applications to studying protein-DNA interactions, as well as structural perturbations (e.g., bending) that occur in DNA during protein binding. Hydroxyl radicals cleave DNA by abstracting a hydrogen atom from C4 of the sugar in the minor groove.

Selective hydroxylation of benzene to phenol has been achieved using H2O2 in the presence of a catalytic amount of the nickel complex [Ni(II)(tepa)](2+) (2) (tepa = tris[2-(pyridin-2-yl)ethyl]amine) at 60 °C.

Hydroxylation of Proline in Vitro
Nature, 1959WHILE carrying out a study of hydroxyproline synthesis in biological media, by hydroxylation of proline or peptides containing proline, we have also investigated the possibility of hydroxylation of pyrrolidine ring in vitro. We commenced our study by ascertaining1,2,3 whether or not cortisone inhibited the formation of free hydroxyproline in animal ...
