9α-Hydroxy-4-androstene-3,17-dione (9-OH-AD) is one of the significant intermediates for the preparation of β-methasone, dexamethasone, and other steroids. In general, the key enzyme that enables the biotransformation of 4-androstene-3,17-dione

Bayesian Estimation of the Hydroxyl Radical Diffusion Coefficient at Low Temperature and High Pressure from Atomistic Molecular Dynamics [PDF]
The hydroxyl radical is the primary reactive oxygen species produced by the radiolysis of water, and is a significant source of radiation damage to living organisms. Mobility of the hydroxyl radical at low temperatures and/or high pressures is hence a potentially important factor in determining the challenges facing psychrophilic and/or barophilic ...

Modulation of TRP Channel Activity by Hydroxylation and Its Therapeutic Potential
Two transient receptor potential (TRP) channels—TRPA1 and TRPV3—are post-translationally hydroxylated, resulting in oxygen-dependent regulation of channel activity.

Dynamics and fragmentation mechanism of (CH3-C5H4)Pt(CH3)3 on SiO2 Surfaces [PDF]
The interaction of (CH3-C5H4)Pt(CH3)3 ((methylcyclopentadienyl)trimethylplatinum)) molecules on fully and partially hydroxylated SiO2 surfaces, as well as the dynamics of this interaction were investigated using density functional theory (DFT) and finite temperature DFT-based molecular dynamics simulations.

Lack of activity of recombinant HIF prolyl hydroxylases (PHDs) on reported non-HIF substrates
Human and other animal cells deploy three closely related dioxygenases (PHD 1, 2 and 3) to signal oxygen levels by catalysing oxygen regulated prolyl hydroxylation of the transcription factor HIF. The discovery of the HIF prolyl-hydroxylase (PHD) enzymes

Role of prolyl hydroxylation in the molecular interactions of collagens
Co- and post-translational hydroxylation of proline residues is critical for the stability of the triple helical collagen structure. In this review, we summarise the biology of collagen prolyl 4-hydroxylases and collagen prolyl 3-hydroxylases, the ...

Scots pine heartwood is known to have resistance to wood decay due to the presence of extractives, namely stilbenes and resin acids. However, previous studies have indicated that these extractives are degradable by wood decaying fungi.

The effect of hydroxyl on dye-sensitized solar cells assembled with TiO2 nanorods [PDF]
TiO2 nanorods have been prepared on ITO substrates by dc reactive magnetron sputtering technique. The hydroxyl groups have been introduced on the nanorods surface. The structure and the optical properties of these nanorods have been studied. The dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have been assembled using these TiO2 nanorods as photoelectrode.
