Hygrothermal aging of Nafion®

Journal of Membrane Science, 2009
The membrane durability is a critical issue for the development of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFC). Since PEMFC in situ tests were not conclusive to determine Nafion (R) membrane degradation mechanism, ex situ aging tests were performed on Nafion (R) 112 in practical fuel cell usage conditions.

HYGROTHERMAL AGEING OF PA 6,6

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010
Polyamides are moderately polar polymers absorbing significant amounts of moisture in wet environments. As an example, PA 6,6 uptakes more than 8% by weight of moisture at ambient temperature in 100% RH. In addition, amide is a well‐known hydrolysable group. It is thus suspected that such a polymer perishes by hygrothermal degradation.

Hygrothermal Aging Effects in Cured Epoxies

British Polymer Journal, 1986
AbstractThe effect of relatively severe hygrothermal aging on the sorption and also the diffusion of water at 40°C has been studied for a number of epoxy networks comprising tetraglycidyl 4,4′‐diaminodiphenyl methane, and the curing agent 4,4′‐diaminodiphenyl sulphone, 4,4′‐diaminodiphenyl methane and 2,2′‐dichloro‐4,4′‐diaminodiphenyl methane.

Hygrothermal ageing of epoxy based coatings

Journal of Materials Science, 1982
Water sorption kinetics, and equilibria at different temperatures, and mechanical tests have been performed on different epoxy based coatings. The resins show different water transport properties and consequently different mechanical properties of the wet system, depending on the temperature and formulation.

Hygrothermal aging of a filled epoxy resin

2007 IEEE International Conference on Solid Dielectrics, 2007
The hygrothermal conditioning of an epoxy resin at 80degC under 80% RH has been followed by weight measurements, therm ogravimetric analysis (TGA) and dynamical mechanical analysis (DMA). The samples are either filled with 60% by weight of silica flour or are not filled.

Hygrothermal Aging of Silane-Laced Epoxy Coatings

Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology, 2010
Abstract The impact of silane on the hygrothermal stability of epoxy coatings was investigated by specular neu-tron reflectivity (NR). By comparing the hygrothermal degradation behavior of neat novolac epoxy coatingand corresponding bis[3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl]tetrasulfide-laced epoxy coating, the role of silane was elu-cidated.

Hygrothermal aging behavior and aging mechanism of carbon nanofibers/epoxy composites

Construction and Building Materials, 2021
Abstract In this study, carbon nanofibers (CNFs)/epoxy composites incorporating different contents of CNFs were fabricated and immersed in distilled water for 180 days. Water absorption test, tensile tests, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observation, dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy were ...
