The hyperbolic geometry of random transpositions
Turn the set of permutations of $n$ objects into a graph $G_n$ by connecting two permutations that differ by one transposition, and let $\sigma_t$ be the simple random walk on this graph.

Magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) using MgO tunnel barriers face challenges of high resistance‐area product and low tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR). To discover alternative materials, Literature Enhanced Ab initio Discovery (LEAD) is developed. The LEAD‐predicted materials are theoretically evaluated, showing that MTJs with dusting of ScN or TiN on ...

Hyperbolic Geometry of Kuramoto Oscillator Networks
Kuramoto oscillator networks have the special property that their trajectories are constrained to lie on the (at most) 3D orbits of the M\"obius group acting on the state space $T^N$ (the $N$-fold torus).

This study reports the fabrication of MRI‐compatible elastomeric micro‐balloons via a multi‐step bubble casting process, where the monolithic elastomeric wall is selectively stiffened for reversible and controlled inflation and elasticity, depending on the target vessels for graded occlusion of cerebral arteries.

Statistical hyperbolicity in groups
In this paper, we introduce a geometric statistic called the "sprawl" of a group with respect to a generating set, based on the average distance in the word metric between pairs of words of equal length.

Numerical Aspects of Hyperbolic Geometry
Hyperbolic geometry has recently found applications in social networks, machine learning and computational biology. With the increasing popularity, questions about the best representations of hyperbolic spaces arise, as each representation comes with some numerical instability.

Topological Point Defects in SmC* Liquid Crystals Under Mechanical Disturbance
Tangetial air jet shear inducess island formation and nucleates topological point defects in uniform SmC films. Island bounded by edge dislocation loops shrink and transform into isolated point defects under continued shear. Mechanical perturbatio provides a controllable route for defect engineering in smectric liquid crystal thin films.

Poincaré maps for analyzing complex hierarchies in single-cell data
The discovery of hierarchies in biological processes is central to developmental biology. Here the authors propose Poincaré maps, a method based on hyperbolic geometry to discover continuous hierarchies from pairwise similarities.

Integrated Au nanosheet sensor array enables simultaneous inference of gas concentration and flow rate via deep neural network analysis, without external flow control. ABSTRACT Gas sensor responses are considerably affected by gas flow rates, thereby inhibiting the accurate detection of target gas concentrations in variable‐flow applications such as ...
