Dynamic Time Series Analysis Using Logistic Function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This paper investigates a set of autoregressive time series models whose coefficients have the form of a logistic function. The transfer function type models give additional flexibility over the fixed coefficients models and include them as a special ...

Robust adaptive backstepping control for a class of constrained non-affine nonlinear systems via self-organizing Hermite-polynomial-based neural network disturbance observer

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2017
The article proposes a robust control approach based on self-organizing Hermite-polynomial-based neural network disturbance observer for a class of non-affine nonlinear systems with input saturation, state constraint, and unknown compound disturbance ...

Computed Tomography‐Based Morphometric Analysis Reveals Intercondylar Notch Stenosis and Osteophytes Are Associated With Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury

open access: yesArthroscopy, EarlyView.
Purpose To quantitatively assess intercondylar notch morphometrics using 3‐dimensional computed tomography reconstruction, evaluate their association with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in Asian populations, and investigate the prevalence of osteophytes in patients with ACL injury.

Assessment of Attainable Distances in Proteins by Through‐Space 19F–19F Couplings

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
De novo synthesized difluorinated tryptophan analogues are site‐specifically incorporated into Cyclophilin A (CypA). 19F–19F NOESY build‐up experiments are recorded for each labeled protein, and the distances derived from cross‐relaxation rates are compared to reference distances.

A Geometric Characterization of Steady Laminar Flow

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We study the steady states of the Euler equations on the periodic channel or annulus. We show that if these flows are laminar (layered by closed non‐contractible streamlines which foliate the domain), then they must be either parallel or circular flows.

Asymptotically CAT(0) Groups [PDF]

open access: yes
We develop a general theory for asymptotically CAT(0) groups; these are groups acting geometrically on a geodesic space, all of whose asymptotic cones are CAT(0)

Explicit geodesic flow-invariant distributions using SL2(ℝ)-representation ladders

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2005
An explicit construction of a geodesic flow-invariant distribution lying in the discrete series of weight 2k isotopic component is found, using techniques from representation theory of SL2(ℝ). It is found that the distribution represents an AC measure on

Dynamic response at the terminus of oblique intersecting joints subjected to stress waves

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study derives the propagation equation for stress waves impinging upon nonlinear oblique intersecting joints. It analyzes the dynamic response at the terminus of nonlinear oblique intersecting joints subjected to stress waves. Abstract To investigate the dynamic response at the terminus of oblique intersecting joints subjected to stress waves, a ...

Supersymmetry and geometry of hyperbolic monopoles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This thesis studies the geometry of hyperbolic monopoles using supersymmetry in four and six dimensions. On the one hand, we show that starting with a four dimensional supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory provides the necessary information to study the ...

Robust Exponential Hyperbolic Tangent Geman-McClure Based Identification of Nonlinear Systems [PDF]

open access: yes
This manuscript presents a new technique to improve the performance of adaptive filters in handling the non-Gaussian or impulsive noise environment. The conduct of the adaptive filter decays in the presence of impulsive noise or outliers.
