[Postoperative hypergastrinemia].
Chirurgia italiana, 1980After reviewing the more recent acquisitions on the physiology and pathophysiology of gastrin, the authors concentrate on situations of hypergastrinemia, which they divide into a hyperhydrochloric and a hypohydrochloric variety. Among the former, which they subdivide into preoperative and postoperative, the authors discuss problems of differential ...

Hypergastrinemia and the Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
Archives of Surgery, 1972To the Editor. —Because of the wellrecognized pitfalls inherent in overdependence upon various demonstrations of gastric hypersecretion, adaptation of radioimmunoassay techniques to the quantization of serum gastrin levels has been readily accepted as another means of diagnostic screening in patients with historical features and secretory studies ...

Hypergastrinemia in Familial Multiple Endocrine Adenomatosis
Annals of Internal Medicine, 1974Abstract Fasting serum gastrin levels of 46 members of 5 families with familial multiple endocrine adenomatosis were measured; 14 patients had hypergastrinemia (a serum gastrin level greater than 2...

Hypergastrinemia and Achlorhydria in Chronic Renal Failure
Nephron, 2008In 68 patients with chronic renal failure (CRF), 15 patients with duodenal ulcer and 15 normal subjects, basal plasma gastrin levels and basal and stimulated gastric acid secretion were measured. Two antisera were used: antiserum R2702 with specificity for human G34 and its N-terminal fragments [G34(l-15)] and antiserum 2604 with specificity for the ...

Hypergastrinemia of antral origin in duodenal ulcer
The American Journal of Digestive Diseases, 1978A case of recurrent duodenal ulcer, basal gastric hypersection, and hypergastrinemia of antral origin is presented. The diagnosis was suggested preoperatively by stimulation tests with secretin and food. Billroth II antrectomy led to normalization of serum gastrin within half an hour.

Management of the patient presenting as an emergency with hypergastrinemia
World Journal of Surgery, 1982AbstractThe emergency management of patients presenting with the Zollinger‐Ellison syndrome (ZES) consists of medical measures to control acid‐pepsin hypersecretion; emergency surgery should be confined to urgent complications of ulceration or tumor growth and spread.

Cimetidine blocks antacid-induced hypergastrinemia
Gastroenterology, 1986The effects on fasting serum gastrin concentrations of hourly doses of magnesium and aluminum hydroxide antacid, with and without intravenous cimetidine, were determined in 8 patients with duodenal ulcer disease. Gastrin levels rose significantly over 10 h when antacid was given either as a bolus of 30 ml every hour or as a constant infusion of 0.5 ml ...

Helicobacterand Hypergastrinemia: The Quisling Option
Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology, 1991Helicobacter infection of the gastric antrum is linked to the development of duodenal ulcer. A key element could be the associated hypergastrinemia. This brief commentary seeks answers to the following questions: 1) Does hypergastrinemia occur? 2) How does it occur? and 3) Does it matter?

Hypergastrinemia in rheumatoid arthritis.
Clinical and experimental rheumatology, 1986Fasting hypergastrinemia was noted in 13-41% of 82 of outpatients with definite or classical rheumatoid arthritis. No differences were noted between the normogastrinemic and the hypergastrinemic subjects in their age, sex, duration of rheumatoid disease, serological status, or medications.

Hyperparathyroidism and hypergastrinemia revisited.
Surgery, 1985The prevalence of hypergastrinemia was determined in 38 consecutive patients with proved primary hyperparathyroidism. Uncorrected serum calcium levels ranged from 2.6 to 4.0 mmol/L and parathyroid hormone levels from 260 to 8750 ng/L (normal less than 600 ng/L).
