Podrijetlom je iz Europe i Azije, a danas je rasprostranjena u svim krajevima umjerene i suptropske klime. Prepoznatljiva je po dvobridnoj stabljici, svijetlim točkicama na listovima i tamnocrvenom soku koji trljanjem izlazi iz zlatnožutih cvjetova.

Reported pharmacological activities of the plant extract on central nervous system have provided confirming evidence for several of the traditional uses of the plant.

The aim of our work was to compare the frequency of plant regeneration of H. perforatum from the leaves, internodes and roots and frequency of plant regeneration ??. officinalis using the proximal, middle and distal part of a leaf. We also determined the optimal type of an explant for maximal plant regeneration frequency. Methods.
