Unraveling Mycobacterium tuberculosis acid resistance and pH homeostasis mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mycobacterium tuberculosis exhibits a remarkable resilience to acid stress. In this Review, we discuss some of the molecular mechanisms and metabolic pathways used by the tubercle bacilli to adapt and resist host‐mediated acid stress. Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) is a successful pathogen that has developed a variety of strategies to survive and ...

Viral Infections and Cutaneous Drug-Related Eruptions

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2021
In the general population, up to 10% of children treated by antibiotics have cutaneous adverse drug reaction, but allergy is confirmed in less than 20% of patients.

Realizing the quantum baker's map on an NMR quantum computer [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev.A59:2649,1999, 1998
By numerically simulating an implementation of the quantum baker's map on a 3-qubit NMR quantum computer based on the molecule trichloroethylene, we demonstrate the feasibility of quantum chaos experiments on present-day quantum computers. We give detailed descriptions of proposed experiments that investigate (a) the rate of entropy increase due to ...

Intestinal Fungal Dysbiosis Is Associated With Visceral Hypersensitivity in Patients With Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Rats.

open access: yesGastroenterology, 2017
BACKGROUND & AIMS Visceral hypersensitivity is one feature of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Bacterial dysbiosis might be involved in the activation of nociceptive sensory pathways, but there have been few studies of the role of the mycobiome (the ...

Characterisation of the role played by ELMO1, GPR141 and the intergenic polymorphism rs918980 in Fuchs' dystrophy in the Indian population

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study reports the upregulation of ELMO1 and GPR141 in human Fuchs' endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD) corneal endothelium and ultraviolet A‐induced FECD mice model. A genetic association of an intergenic single nucleotide polymorphism rs918980 present between both genes is observed with FECD in the Indian population.

Case series of sebelipase alfa hypersensitivity reactions and successful sebelipase alfa rapid desensitization

open access: yesJIMD Reports, 2019
Allergic immune‐mediated hypersensitivity reactions are known potential complications of enzyme replacement therapy. Sebelipase alfa, recombinant lysosomal acid lipase (LAL), is a potentially life‐altering treatment for patients with LAL deficiency ...

Galanin suppresses visceral afferent responses to noxious mechanical and inflammatory stimuli

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, 2020
Galanin is a neuropeptide expressed by sensory neurones innervating the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Galanin displays inhibitory effects on vagal afferent signaling within the upper GI tract, and the goal of this study was to determine the actions of ...

Reduced activity of adenylyl cyclase 1 attenuates morphine induced hyperalgesia and inflammatory pain in mice

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2022
Opioid tolerance, opioid-induced hyperalgesia during repeated opioid administration, and chronic pain are associated with upregulation of adenylyl cyclase activity.

Eigenstates of Operating Quantum Computer: Hypersensitivity to Static Imperfections [PDF]

open access: yesEur. Phys. J. D 20 (2002) 293, 2001
We study the properties of eigenstates of an operating quantum computer which simulates the dynamical evolution in the regime of quantum chaos. Even if the quantum algorithm is polynomial in number of qubits $n_q$, it is shown that the ideal eigenstates become mixed and strongly modified by static imperfections above a certain threshold which drops ...
