ThermomiR-377-3p-induced suppression of Cirbp expression is required for effective elimination of cancer cells and cancer stem-like cells by hyperthermia

open access: yesJournal of Experimental & Clinical Cancer Research
Background In recent years, the development of adjunctive therapeutic hyperthermia for cancer therapy has received considerable attention. However, the mechanisms underlying hyperthermia resistance are still poorly understood.

Relationship between intraoperative hypothermia and hyperthermia with postoperative pulmonary infection and surgical site infection in major non-cardiac surgery

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
BackgroundSurgical patients often experience intraoperative hypothermia or hyperthermia. However, the relationship of intraoperative hypothermia and hyperthermia with postoperative pulmonary infection (PPI) and surgical site infection (SSI) is unclear ...

A Photothermal Transducer Regulates Transmembrane Calcium Flow for Synergistic Osteoarthritis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Upon NIR irradiation at 808 nm, the activity of TRPV4 was inhibited by M2M@BPSC, which led to reduced calcium influx, mitochondrial protection, and, importantly, the transcriptional activation of the STAT6‐EGR2 pathway. The improved macrophage function indirectly readjusts the equilibrium between C‐ECM and F‐ECM to reconstruct a suitable ...

Molecular genetic analysis for malignant hyperthermia : a thesis presented to Massey University in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Biochemistry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Malignant hyperthermia (MH) is a rare pharmacogenetic disorder in humans caused by inhalational general anaesthetics and depolarising muscle relaxants. An MH reaction shows abnormal calcium homeostasis in skeletal muscle leading to a hypermetabolic state

Influence of a transverse static magnetic field on the magnetic hyperthermia properties and high-frequency hysteresis loops of ferromagnetic FeCo nanoparticles

open access: yes, 2012
The influence of a transverse static magnetic field on the magnetic hyperthermia properties is studied on a system of large-losses ferromagnetic FeCo nanoparticles.

Cascade‐Responsive MXene@Cu‐MOF Heterostructure Integrates Antioxidant Activity, Infection Control, and Vascularization for Tracheal Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A cascade‐responsive MXene@Cu‐MOF/GelMA hydrogel is engineered as a “skeleton–backpack” platform for extensive tracheal repair. The MXene framework scavenges postoperative ROS and converts NIR light into mild hyperthermia, while the Cu‐MOF component provides pH/NIR‐responsive Cu2+ dosing for infection control, angiogenesis, and chondrogenesis.

Synergistic Sunlight‐Activated Photodynamic and Near‐Infrared‐Induced Mild Photothermal Therapy for Infected Wound Healing Using Functionalized Nano‐Bi2WO6 Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work proposes a multifunctional Bi2WO6:Yb,Er@CuS@CS nanocomposite that integrates photodynamic therapy (PDT), near‐infrared‐triggered photothermal therapy (PTT), and Cu2+ release for infected wound repair. The nanocomposite demonstrates enhanced antibacterial efficacy via combined PDT, PTT, and Cu2+ release, effective immunomodulatory by mild ...

A Mitochondria‐Specific Nanomedicine for Synergistic Chemo‐Photothermal Therapy and Immunogenic Activation Against Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Peptide dendrimer–based nanoplatform with mitochondria‐targeting capability was developed for synergistic chemo‐photothermal therapy. The system promotes efficient transcytosis, induces mitochondrial dysfunction, triggers immunogenic cell death (ICD), and enhance antitumor immunity by promoting dendritic cell maturation and T‐cell activation, resulting

Hyperthermia as a factor of secondary brain damage in traumatic brain injury

open access: yesМедицина неотложных состояний
The development of hyperthermia (≥38.3 °C) in severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) is associated with increased levels of disability and mortality, since it critically affects the development of secondary brain damage.
