Radiologic features of the jejunum in hypoalbuminemia
American Journal of Roentgenology, 1981Although hypoalbuminemia is a recognized cause of jejunal dilatation, the level of serum albumin at which this occurs and its relation to the extent of jejunal dilatation in celiac disease have not been clearly established. Barium follow-through examination was performed in 12 patients with hypoalbuminemia, in 21 patients with celiac disease, some of ...

Quantitative changes in serum albumin concentration represent an important indicator of the presence of disease or its progression or improvement. The significance of serum albumin estimations is limited to varying degrees of hypoalbuminemia, since, with the exception of cases of acute dehydration, hyperalbuminemia does not occur.

Hypoalbuminemia: A cause of fetal hydrops?
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2006The pathophysiology of fetal hydrops is still unclear. One factor that is believed to contribute to hydrops is hypoalbuminemia. Our research question was whether hypoalbuminemia in immune hydrops is causative or a secondary effect.Between 1987 and 2005, fetal blood samples were taken at the first fetal blood transfusion in 224 Rh-D alloimmunized ...

Correction of posaconazole concentrations for hypoalbuminemia
Pharmacotherapy: The Journal of Human Pharmacology and Drug TherapyAbstractBackgroundPosaconazole is an example of a highly protein‐bound drug (>98%) in which therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) is commonplace. Total drug concentration is typically measured, and in the setting of hypoalbuminemia, total concentrations are lower despite no anticipated change in unbound concentration.

Steatorrhea and hypoalbuminemia in cirrhosis with ascites
The American Journal of Digestive Diseases, 1964Steatorrhea associated with advanced cirrhosis of the liver was studied by means of the I131-labeled oleic acid absorption test. The validity of the use of this test as a measure of fat absorption by the small intestine was reviewed. Malabsorption of oleic acid was demonstrated in each of the 6 cirrhotic patients examined.

Spontaneous echoes due to hypoalbuminemia
Cardiology in the Young, 2004We found spontaneous echoes in two teenagers with nephrotic syndrome and profound hypoalbuminemia, both having normal cardiac structure, function and output. The phenomenon disappeared after the level of albumin normalized. In one patient, all spontaneous echoes disappeared following convalescence, the level of albumin in the serum then being ...

Hypoalbuminemia After Renal Transplantation
Archives of Surgery, 1980Changes of serum albumin levels were studied in 20 patients with end-stage renal disease who had undergone renal transplantation. Serum albumin concentrations steadily decreased from a normal pretransplantal value to its lowest level eight to 29 days after transplantation.
