The Effect of Grain Type on Virulence of Entomopathogenic Fungi Against Stored Product Pests

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Fungal virulence is multifaceted and dependent on multiple abiotic factors. The present study represents an investigation of the effect of one such abiotic factor, that of the grain type, on the insecticidal action of three entomopathogenic fungal ...

Akanthopyrones A–D, α-Pyrones Bearing a 4-O-Methyl-β-d-glucopyranose Moiety from the Spider-Associated Ascomycete Akanthomyces novoguineensis

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
Hypocrealean fungi have proved to be prolific bioactive metabolite producers; they have caught the attention of mycologists throughout the world. However, only a few studies on the insect and spider parasitic genus Akanthomyces have so far been carried ...

Phylogenetic position of Pseudohypocrea (Hypocreales)

open access: yesMycoscience, 2017
Abstract Based on morphological characteristics, a hypocrea-like collection from Hunan Province was found to be identical with Pseudohypocrea hongkongensis, which was originally reported only from Hong Kong, China. A living culture of the fungus was obtained from fresh ascomata, and its asexual morph is described for the first time.

Lichenicolous fungi from Ecuador. I. Two new species of the order Hypocreales (Ascomycota): Pronectria parmotrematis and Trichonectria leptogiicola

open access: yesAnales del Jardín Botánico de Madrid, 2000
Two species of lichenicolous fungi from Ecuador are described: Pronectria parmotrematis, with erumpent, orange-brown ascomata and non ornaméntate ascospores, on Parmotrema sp. thallus (also from Colombia), and Trichonectria leptogiicola, with superficial,

From glacial echoes to timber pathways: Climatic–historical drivers and timber‐trade influence on the phylogeography of Ips sexdentatus in the Basque Country

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, EarlyView.
Ips sexdentatus is expanding across southern Europe, attacking multiple Pinus species and showing the ability to colonize trees at early stages of decline. Genetic analysis of 668 individuals revealed 106 haplotypes, with Iberian populations as diversity hotspots, reflecting long‐term refugial persistence alongside more recent demographic expansion ...

A new species of Papiliomyces (Clavicipiteae, Hypocreales) from China

open access: yesBiodiversity Data Journal, 2023
Papiliomyces (Hypocreales, Sordariomycetes) was introduced to accommodate two species: Papiliomyces liangshanensis and Papiliomyces shibinensis. Later, Papiliomyces liangshanensis was renamed Ophiocordyceps liangshanensis. However, the Papiliomyces liangshanensis molecular data (Nepalese) used to establish the Papiliomyces genus was different from ...

The mitochondrial genome analysis of Isaria tenuipes (Hypocreales: Cordycipitaceae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2019
The mitochondrial genome of Isaria tenuipes, strain TTZ2017-3, was sequenced on the Illumina Hiseq 4000 and the PacBio Sequel Sequencer and annotated. The genome is 66703 bp in length, encoding 15 conserved protein-coding genes (PCGs) including ribosomal

Consistent root microbiomes across contrasting habitats in a wild perennial vine

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Communities of bacteria and fungi associated with the roots are similar across diverse habitats in a wild plant. Abstract While we are beginning to understand that the plant microbiome is important for plant health, we still lack information about how plant microbiomes are shaped across environments and how they influence plant performance, in ...

First Record of Flavocillium subprimulinum (Cordycipitaceae, Hypocreales) in Mexico: Morphological and Molecular Characterisation, Nematocidal Activity of Its Liquid Culture Filtrates against Haemonchus contortus and Protease Activity

open access: yesJournal of Fungi
This is the first record of the fungus Flavocillium subprimulinum in Mexico. The isolate was taxonomically characterised and cultured in potato dextrose broth (PDB), Czapek–Dox broth (CzDoxB), and sweet potato dextrose broth (SPDB) to obtain its ...
