Study of hypotonic polyuria after trans-sphenoidal pituitary adenomectomy
We have studied the postoperative diuresis patterns in 116 patients following the removal of a pituitary adenoma using the trans-sphenoidal approach. We observed a normal diuresis (ND) in 55 patients and a hypotonic polyuria (HP) in 61 patients, consisting of water elimination (WE = 45 cases) and transient diabetes insipidus (DI = 16 cases).

A Reliable Diagnostic Test for Hypotonic Polyuria
Pinpointing the cause of hypotonic polyuria in a patient poses a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge, particularly in distinguishing primary polydipsia (either psychogenic or nonpsychogenic) from ...

We studied two women with severe hypotonic polyuria whose symptoms dated from infancy. We eliminated the possibility of central diabetes insipidus (DI) and primary polydipsia, and established the presence of nephrogenic DI on the basis of: 1) the interrelationships between plasma osmolality, urine osmolality, and urinary AVP; and 2) impaired ...

Summary. During hypotonic polyuria renal function studies by the clearance (cl.) method, and urinary PGE2, 6‐keto‐PGF1α and TxB2 determinations were performed on 14 healthy women in normal potassium balance (N) and 14 healthy women in sustained potassium depletion (KD) induced by low dietary potassium intake (≤ 10 mmol day‐1) and natriuretic treatment.

Copeptin in the differential diagnosis of hypotonic polyuria
Journal of Endocrinological Investigation, 2019Copeptin is secreted in equimolar amount to Arginine Vasopressin (AVP) but can easily be measured with a sandwich immunoassay. Both peptides, copeptin and AVP, show a high correlation. Accordingly, copeptin mirrors the amount of AVP in the circulation and its measurement provides an attractive marker in the differential diagnosis of diabetes insipidus ...
