Hypotonic polyuria: at the cross-roads of copeptin.

The Netherlands journal of medicine, 2021
The aetiology of hypotonic polyuria, after excluding solute diuresis, is one of primary polydipsia, central, or nephrogenic diabetes insipidus. Theoretically, these disorders should be relatively easily distinguished based on history and the results of an indirect water deprivation test.

The changing landscape in the evaluation of hypotonic polyuria in children and adolescents: the role of the new copeptin stimulation tests

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism
Abstract Hypotonic polyuria, also known as the polyuria-polydipsia syndrome (PPS), caused by primary polydipsia (PP), arginine vasopressin deficiency (AVP-D or central diabetes insipidus), or uncommonly by AVP resistance (AVP-R), is diagnostically challenging due to overlapping symptoms and the need to conclusively diagnose or exclude ...

Hypotonic polyuria syndrome after electrical burns: a case reports study

Neurologia Croatica. Supplement, 2007
Aim. Electrical fields damage the cells by thermal and non-thermal mechanisms. It causes cells lysis, disturbs electrochemical equilibrium inside and outside the cells and cause cytokines freed from the damaged cells. Giant, muscle and nerve cells are more sensitive to lysis and the most signs of electrical damage are related to neuromuscular injury ...

[Relation between acute changes in diuresis and renal prostaglandins. I: Induced hypotonic polyuria].

Bollettino della Societa italiana di biologia sperimentale, 1984
We have evaluated the effects of indomethacin (I) and of a rich in linoleic acid phosphatidylcholine (E) on the renal function and on the PGE urinary excretion during steady hypotonic polyuria. 5 normal subjects have been studied in the absence of treatment (TA) and after treatment with I, E, E + I.

[Renal function in experimental potassium depletion. I. Effects of lysine-8-vasopressin in hypotonic polyuria].

Bollettino della Societa italiana di biologia sperimentale, 1990
Renal function has been studied by the clearance (cl.) method during hypotonic polyuria--four 15-min cl. periods--and successive antidiuresis--two 60-min cl. periods (A1, A2)--induced by lysine-8-vasopressin (LVP), 5 mU in bolus followed by infusion at a rate of 0.04 mU/min. The endogenous creatinine cl. (Cc) and the osmotic cls.
