Use of i-gel for caesarean section with kyphoscoliosis [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ Case Reports, 2014
We describe the anaesthetic management using i-gel for airway maintenance in a patient with kyphoscoliosis presenting for emergency caesarean section due to fetal distress and scar tenderness. The patient had a history of previous caesarean section under general anaesthesia, and presently her cardiorespiratory status is stable.

Comparison of endotracheal intubation, laryngeal mask airway, and I-gel in children undergoing strabismus surgery

open access: yesJournal of Research in Medical Sciences, 2021
Background: Insertion of the advanced airway during induction of general anesthesia can cause undesirable sympathetic stimulation such as increased intraocular pressure (IOP) and hemodynamic parameters.

i-gel insertion with modified jaw thrust technique

open access: yesIndian Journal of Anaesthesia, 2015
Sir, Since the introduction of i-gel in modern anaesthesia practice, it is widely used by the anaesthesiologists, accident and emergency department personnel and in pre-hospital care setting. The reported first attempt success rate is 86%[1] with primary (manufacturer's recommended) insertion technique.

Dexmedetomidine infusion as an anesthetic adjuvant to general anesthesia for appropriate surgical field visibility during modified radical mastectomy with i-gel®: a randomized control study [PDF]

open access: yesKorean Journal of Anesthesiology, 2016
BackgroundModified radical mastectomy is associated with appreciable blood loss, while endotracheal intubation leads to elevated hemodynamic responses. The present study aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of dexmedetomidine infusion as an anesthetic

Comparison of efficiency between i-gel blind intubation and i-gel-assisted bronchoscopic intubation during cardiopulmonary resuscitation: randomized simulation study [PDF]

open access: yesIntensive Care Medicine Experimental, 2015
i-gel has been used as a conduit for blind and bronchoscopic operative intubation. However, it is not easy that conventional polyvinyl chloride (PVC) tracheal tube pass through i-gel in emergent intubation during cardiopulmonary resuscitation. We considered wire-reinforced silicone tube could pass through i-gel more easily than conventional PVC tube.

Use of i-gel in magnetic resonance imaging

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Taiwanica, 2014
Anesthesia for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) requires special equipment that can be used in the presence of a magnetic field. Endotracheal tube and various laryngeal mask airway devices have a variable quantity of ferromagnetic material in the pilot balloon that could reduce image quality and result in artifacts.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Airway Management in Tracheal Resection Using Montgomery Tracheal Tube and I-gel

open access: yesJournal of Onco-Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine
Tracheal stenosis after prolonged intubation or tracheostomy is a common occurrence and is often treated by tracheal resection and anastomosis. It is typically performed using a Montgomery tracheal tube (T-tube), which is utilised for ventilation and to ...

A prospective study to evaluate and compare laryngeal mask airway ProSeal and i-gel airway in the prone position

open access: yesSaudi Journal of Anaesthesia, 2015
Background: Prone position is commonly used to provide surgical access to a variety of surgeries. In view of the advantages of induction of anesthesia in the prone position, we conducted a randomized study to evaluate and compare ProSeal laryngeal mask ...
