Compact Nonvolatile Reconfigurable Mode Converter by Sb2S3 Embedded in 4H-Silicon-Carbide-on-Insulator Platform

open access: yesNanomaterials
Nonvolatile switching is emerging and shows potential in integrated optics. A compact nonvolatile reconfigurable mode converter implemented on a 4H-silicon-carbide-on-insulator (4H-SiCOI) platform with a footprint of 0.5 × 1 × 1.8 μm3 is proposed in this

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Estudis teòrics de clusters, superfícies i cristalls d'òxids metàl.lics. Propietats estructurals, electròniques i catalítiques

open access: yes, 2009
La present tesi doctoral tracta la modelitzacio de diferents estats de la materia: clusters o agregats, superficies i cristalls d'oxids metal.lics. Els metodes disponibles per abordar cada sistema han estat breument descrits, per justificar la seua ...

Heuristics and Biases in Travel Mode Choice [PDF]

open access: yes
This study applies experimental methods to analyze travel mode choice. Two different scenarios are considered. In the first scenario, subjects have to decide whether to commute by car or by metro.

PARK(ing) time–How park deficiency affects the biological clock in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

Finite element analysis of the ECT test on mode III interlaminar fracture of carbon-epoxy composite laminates

open access: yes, 2006
In this work a parametric study of the Edge Crack Torsion (ECT) specimen was performed in order to maximize the mode III component (GIII) of the strain energy release rate for carbon-epoxy laminates.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

α‐Synuclein aggregation landscape from phase separation to neurotoxic intermediates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Alpha‐synuclein aggregation in Parkinson's disease involves a complex landscape of transient intermediates, including oligomers, fibrils and liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS). A view is emerging in which LLPS maturation into solid‐like condensates may contribute to the formation of neurotoxic species.
