Constraining the p-Mode–g-Mode Tidal Instability with GW170817
We analyze the impact of a proposed tidal instability coupling p modes and g modes within neutron stars on GW170817. This nonresonant instability transfers energy from the orbit of the binary to internal modes of the stars, accelerating the gravitational-wave driven inspiral.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Muzealizacija bez muzeologije: nacionalni muzeji i izložbe mode između istorije, teorije i prakse
Studije teorije i istorije mode, do skora svrstavane u studije kulture, roda, komunikologije, istorije umetnosti i antropologije, na akademskoj mapi XXI veka afirmišu se kao zasebne discipline.

Transition dipole coupling in Amide I modes of βpolypeptides [PDF]
Our previous introduction of transition dipole coupling helped to explain the splittings in the Amide I modes of antiparallel chain pleated sheet polyglycine I. This mechanism has now been applied to the more likely rippled sheet structure of this polypeptide as well as to the pleated sheet structure of poly(L-alanine).

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Fracture Behavior of Beech-Furan Wood Polymer under Mode I [PDF]
In this study, characteristics of wood-polymer fracture under mode I were investigated by double cantilever beam. In this regard, the properties of furfurylated specimens with three different levels of furfurylation (20%, 30% and 65%) were evaluated in ...

Hydrodynamic Behavior of Self-Propelled Particles in a Simple Shear Flow
The hydrodynamic properties of a squirmer type of self-propelled particle in a simple shear flow are investigated using the immersed boundary-lattice Boltzmann method in the range of swimming Reynolds number 0.05 ≤ Res ≤ 2.0, flow Reynolds number 40 ...
