Carbon‐Based Nanomaterials for Antiviral Applications
Carbon‐based nanomaterials (CBNs), including fullerenes, carbon dots, graphene, and their derivatives, show promise as antiviral tools in the antimicrobial resistance era. They exhibit broad‐spectrum antiviral activity with a low risk of resistance development. CBNs also enhance efficacy under light exposure and support antiviral immune responses. CBNs

Infectious bursal disease (IBD) is a viral infectious disease that affects young chicks. A cross‐sectional study was conducted from October 2020 to June 2021 to determine seroprevalence and associated risk factors of IBD on backyard chickens of purposively selected three districts of Buno Bedelle Zone, Western Ethiopia.

(1) Broilers were treated with H120 and 1/96 vaccine strains on Days 0 and 14. Heterophils/lymphocyte ratio, ChSAA, ChPTX3, ChIL‐1β, ChIL‐6 and antibody titres were measured. (2) A positive correlation between all criteria values at Days 1 and 15 and antibody titres at Day 28 may indicate agonistic cross‐regulation.

Pathogenicity and Molecular Characterisation of the VP2 Gene of Infectious Bursal Disease Virus [PDF]
Pathogenicity of four infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) isolates was studied on specific-pathogen-free (SPF) chickens. Chickens inoculated with isolates 92/04, 94/B551 and 97/61 developed severe clinical manifestations with a high mortality ranging ...

Construction and characterization of H5N1-recombinant fowlpox viruses co-expressing host cytokines [PDF]
Possessing a large double stranded DNA genome up to 300 kb, fowlpox virus (FWPV) has been developed to express avian influenza virus (AIV) antigens since the late 1980s. A more advanced approach would be to coexpress host cytokines from such recombinants.

Two recombinant herpesviruses of turkey (HVT) expressing the VP2 protein of infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV or Gumboro disease virus) have been constructed: vHVT001 and vHVT002. The VP2 open reading frame was inserted at the locus of the small subunit of ribonucleotide reductase gene (HSV-1 UL40 homolog) without any exogenous promoter in vHVT001 ...

Pathogenicity And Molecular Characteristics Of Infectious Bursal Disease Virus Isolates Of Nepal [PDF]
Infectious bursal disease (IBD) outbreak in chickens was first reported in Nepal in 1991. The objective of this study was to identify, characterise and determine the pathogenicity of IBD virus (IBDV) isolates of Nepal.
