Laccases from lactic acid bacteria show cuprous oxidase activity and capture Cu(II) and Ag(I) ions

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Several laccases derived from lactic acid bacteria (LAB) display specific structural features, such as two methionine residues at the entrance of the T1Cu center, and an extended C‐terminal end enriched in methionine and histidine. To investigate their functional roles, we engineered mutant variants of the laccase Pp4816 from Pediococcus ...

The role of phagocytic cells in enhanced susceptibility of broilers to colibacillosis after Infectious Bronchitis Virus infection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Colibacillosis results from infection with avian pathogenic Escherichia coli bacteria. Healthy broilers are resistant to inhaled E. coli, but previous infection with vaccine or virulent strains of Infectious Bronchitis Virus (IBV) predisposes birds for ...

Perceived disabling physical pain and suicidal ideation in aging people living with HIV cured of hepatitis C: A multi‐center survey in France (ANRS CO13 HEPAVIH)

open access: yesHIV Medicine, Volume 27, Issue 1, Page 106-119, January 2026.
Abstract Introduction Suicidal ideation (SI) is highly prevalent among people living with HIV (PWH) and those with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. Individuals with long‐term HIV–HCV co‐infection face specific health challenges, including heightened physical pain.

NR2F2 is required in the embryonic testis for fetal Leydig cell development

open access: yeseLife
Male genital development in XY mammalian fetuses is triggered by the action of hormones, including testosterone, secreted by the developing testes. Defects in this process are a cause for differences in sex development (DSD), one of the most common ...

Appearance-Based Indoor Navigation by IBVS Using Line Segments [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Robotics and Automation Letters, 2016
This letter presents a method for image-based navigation from an image memory using line segments as landmarks. The entire navigation process is based on 2-D image information without using any 3-D information at all. The environment is represented by a set of reference images with overlapping landmarks, which are acquired during a prior learning phase.

Recent Advances in Lateral Flow Immunoassay for Rapid Diagnosis of Viral Diseases

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Viral diseases are a major threat to human and animal health, as illustrated by recent pandemics like COVID‐19 and African swine fever (ASF). Timely, accurate detection of viral infections is critical for effective disease control. Among diverse diagnostic techniques, lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) has become a widely used on‐site testing tool, owing ...

A self-adjuvanted nanoparticle based vaccine against infectious bronchitis virus. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) affects poultry respiratory, renal and reproductive systems. Currently the efficacy of available live attenuated or killed vaccines against IBV has been challenged.

Schur flows and orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle

open access: yes, 2006
The relation between the Toda lattices and similar nonlinear chains and orthogonal polynomials on the real line has been elaborated immensely for the last decades. We examine another system of the differential-difference equations known as the Schur flow

Appearance-based indoor navigation by IBVS using mutual information [PDF]

open access: yes2016 14th International Conference on Control, Automation, Robotics and Vision (ICARCV), 2016
This paper presents a complete framework for image-based navigation from an image memory that exploits mutual information and does not need any feature extraction, matching or any 3D information. The navigation path is represented by a set of automatically selected key images obtained during a prior learning phase.
