Impact of Intracranial Atherosclerosis and Cerebral Small Vessel Disease on Overt Vascular Events During Antithrombotic Therapy. [PDF]

open access: yesEur J Neurol
In this prospective multicenter study, baseline MRI assessed SVD markers and ICAD severity, showing no graded association between ICAD severity and overall SVD burden, although ICAD was linked to more nonlacunar infarcts and fewer PVS. Over a median 2‐year follow‐up, severe‐to‐occluded ICAD independently increased the risk of ischemic events and ...

The Correlations of Clinical Outcomes and Vascular Morphology With Infarct Patterns in Middle Cerebral Arterial Occlusion. [PDF]

open access: yesBrain Behav
For stroke caused by large vessel occlusion in M1 segment of middle cerebral artery (MCA), a tortuous and long M1 segment of contralateral MCA (cMCA) correlates with the onset of borderzone infarct. In those with a less tortuous cMCA‐M1 segment, a thin and short M1 segment correlates with large infarct.

Abstract Number ‐ 163: Underlying ICAD is associated with worse outcomes in acute large vessel occlusion undergoing endovascular thrombectomy

open access: yesStroke: Vascular and Interventional Neurology, 2023
Introduction Acute large vessel occlusion (LVO) can be secondary to thromboembolism or intracranial atherosclerotic disease (ICAD). Data on LVO management due to underlying ICAD are scarce.

Internal carotid artery dissection with different interventions and outcomes: two case reports

open access: yesJournal of International Medical Research, 2023
Spontaneous internal carotid artery dissection (ICAD) is a rare disease and an important cause of stroke in young patients. The presentation of ICAD is variable and atypical.

Intracranial Atherosclerosis Disease Associated With Cognitive Impairment and Dementia: Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2023
Background Intracranial atherosclerosis disease (ICAD) alters cerebrovascular hemodynamics and brain structural integrity. Multiple studies have evaluated the link between ICAD and cognitive impairment, with mixed results.

The Correlation between icaA and icaD Genes with Biofilm Formation Staphylococcus epidermidis In Vitro

open access: yesFolia Medica Indonesiana, 2021
This study was conducted to identify the presence of icaA and icaD genes in S. epidermidis and to analyze the relationship between the presence of icaA and icaD genes with the ability of in vitro biofilm formation in S. epidermidis. S.

Predisposing factors and radiological features in patients with internal carotid artery dissection or vertebral artery dissection

open access: yesBMC Neurology, 2020
Background Cervicocerebral artery dissection is an important cause of ischemic stroke in young and middle-aged individuals. However, very few studies have compared the differential features between internal carotid artery dissection (ICAD) and vertebral ...

A typically progressive dissection of the internal carotid artery with recurrent hiccups: A case report with continuous 2‐year data recording

open access: yesIbrain, 2023
Patients with internal carotid artery dissection (ICAD) usually report headache, neck pain, Horner's syndrome, and ischemic stroke. Because the posterior cranial nerve is involved, some patients may show different forms of posterior cranial nerve ...

The ICAD (Iterative Cavity Enhanced DOAS) Method [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2019
Abstract. Cavity Enhanced Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy (CE-DOAS or BB-CEAS DOAS) allows to make in-situ measurements while maintaining the km-long light paths required by DOAS. These technique have been successfully used for several years to measure in-situ atmospheric trace gases.
