Decreased Expression of Inhibitor of Caspase-Activated DNase (ICAD) in Renal Cell Carcinoma – Tissue Microarray of Human Samples

open access: yesJournal of Kidney Cancer and VHL, 2016
Although primary localised tumours of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) can be treated relatively successfully with surgery, metastatic RCC has poor prognosis because of late diagnosis and resistance to therapies.

The Central Entry Point for Infra‐Acetabular Screw Placement: Defining an Anatomical Entry Zone and Evaluating Its Clinical Efficacy

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, EarlyView.
This study defines the quasi‐elliptical infra‐acetabular screw entry zone, with its center located medial‐anterior to the iliopubic eminence. Utilizing this central entry point significantly improves surgical efficiency, reducing operation time and radiation exposure, while maintaining excellent fixation stability.

Whole‐body hot water immersion effect on cerebral haemodynamics and subsequent cerebrovascular reactivity to carbon dioxide

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract To test the hypothesis that hot water immersion (HWI) improves cerebrovascular function via shear‐mediated mechanisms, this study determined cerebrovascular reactivity to carbon dioxide (CVRCO2${\mathrm{CV}}{{\mathrm{R}}_{{\mathrm{C}}{{\mathrm{O}}_2}}}$) before and after 60 min of 39°C HWI and a 21°C air control (CON) in 15 healthy ...

Stent-Assisted Angioplasty in Spontaneous Bilateral Extracranial Internal Carotid Artery Dissection

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2020
Internal carotid artery dissection (ICAD) results from a tear in the intima or rupture of the vasa vasorum with bleeding within the media resulting in separation of the vessel wall layers and a false lumen.

Caspase‐mediated cleavage events hidden by secondary proteolysis during apoptosis

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Caspases are cysteine proteases that cleave specific proteins to control a range of cellular processes including cell death, inflammation, and differentiation. Proteomic approaches, like N‐terminomics, have been central to identifying both cleaved proteins and where they are cleaved.

The Insect Calculator: A web tool to predict meadow arthropods based on mowing impacts

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 7, Issue 3, July–September 2026.
Although the biodiversity crisis and insect decline have gained increasing scientific and public attention, they persist, indicating that current measures are insufficient. The Insect Calculator (insektentaschenrechner.de/en), a digital tool that models and visualises the effects of mowing and environmental parameters on arthropod density and species ...

Endovascular therapy of symptomatic high-grade stenosis of left internal carotid artery in C6 segment using Elutax “3” Neuro pDEB

open access: yesAdvances in Interventional Cardiology, 2021
Intracranial atherosclerotic disease (ICAD) is a well-known cause of stroke and is responsible for approximately 5–10% of all strokes [1]. The annual risk of recurrent stroke in symptomatic ICAD is around 9–12% despite optimal medical treatment [2 ...

Evaluation of the Antimicrobial Activity of Essential Oils and Nanoemulsions of Chrysopogon zizanioides and Schinus terebinthifolius Cultivated in Brazil

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 11, Issue 26, 10 July 2026.
ABSTRACT This study evaluated the antimicrobial activity of Chrysopogon zizanioides (vetiver) and Schinus terebinthifolius (aroeira) essential oils (EO) and their nanoemulsions, along with chemical characterization of the EO. The major compounds in C.
