The Glimmer community ice sheet model [PDF]
We present a detailed description of the Glimmer ice sheet model, comprising the physics represented in the model and the numerical techniques used. Established methods are combined with good software design to yield an adaptable and widely applicable model. A flexible framework for coupling Glimmer to global climate forcing is also described.

Simulating Marine Isotope Stage 7 with a coupled climate–ice sheet model [PDF]
It is widely accepted that orbital variations are responsible for the generation of glacial cycles during the late Pleistocene. However, the relative contributions of the orbital forcing compared to CO2 variations and other feedback mechanisms causing ...

Controls on interior West Antarctic Ice Sheet Elevations: inferences from geologic constraints and ice sheet modeling [PDF]
Knowledge of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS) response to past sea level and climate forcing is necessary to predict its response to warmer temperatures in the future.

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Modeling Antarctic ice sheet loss [PDF]
Cryosphere Knowledge of the speed and scale of ice-shelf melting in Antarctica is crucial for estimates of ice sheet loss. How accurate do models need to be to capture these processes and yield useful projections of future ice sheet loss and the resulting sea level rise? To address this question, Goldberg et al.

ABSTRACT Objective To determine the concentration of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and plasma in Alexander disease (AxD) and whether GFAP levels are predictive of disease phenotypes. Methods CSF and plasma were collected (longitudinally when available) from AxD participants and non‐AxD controls.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Bio‐based and (semi‐)synthetic zwitterion‐modified novel materials and fully synthetic next‐generation alternatives show the importance of material design for different biomedical applications. The zwitterionic character affects the physiochemical behavior of the material and deepens the understanding of chemical interaction mechanisms within the ...

This study presents a versatile approach to harnessing miscible aqueous domains, enabling liquid‐in‐liquid compartmentalization using a barrier formed in situ rather than bulk immiscibility. The barrier forms upon the complexation of multifunctional nanoparticles and ligands at the contact boundary of aqueous phases.
