Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Evaluation of Surface Melt on the Greenland Ice Sheet Using SMAP
Monitoring melt extent and timing on the Greenland ice sheet is important for tracking the ice sheet's mass and energy balance as well as the global and Arctic climate variability and change.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

God\u27s Purpose for Israel During the Tribulation [PDF]
I recently engaged in a debate (May 26, 2006) against preterist Gary DeMar on the topic of “The Great Tribulation: Past or Future?” One of the points I made in favor of the tribulation as a future time was that one of the biblically defined purposes for ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

MASSIVE: A scalable framework for agent-based scheduling of micro-grids using market mechanisms
With the increasing share of distributed renewable energy sources the need arises to store excess energy and/or to shift demands to match the given supply. To coordinate multiple suppliers and demands in a local energy-system different control approaches

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Combined mini-TPP based on gas piston installation and steam turbine
The paper proposes a technological scheme of the combined mini-TPP on the basis of gas-piston installation and a steam turbine, which may be required as part of the local or distributed power systems.

Modeling ice block failure within drift ice and ice rubble
A major challenge within material science is the proper modeling of force transmission through fragmenting materials under compression. A particularly demanding material is sea ice, which on small scales is an anisotropic material with quasibrittle characteristics under failure.
