Modern Airfoil ice accretions [PDF]
This report presents results from the first icing tests performed in the Modem Airfoils program. Two airfoils have been subjected to icing tests in the NASA Lewis Icing Research Tunnel (IRT). Both airfoils were two dimensional airfoils; one was representative of a commercial transport airfoil while the other was representative of a business jet airfoil.

Salt marshes are vulnerable to sea-level rise, sediment deficits, and storm impacts. To remain vertically resilient, salt marshes must accrete sediment at rates greater or equal to sea-level rise. Ice-rafted debris (IRD), sediment that has been moved and

Fast Prediction of Multiple Parameters Related to Iced Airfoil Based on POD and Kriging Methods [PDF]
Ice accretion threatens aircraft safety. With the wide application of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the design of ice-tolerant UAVs has become a problem that must be solved.

Investigation of surface water behavior during glaze ice accretion [PDF]
A series of experimental investigations that focused on isolating the primary factors that control the behavior of unfrozen surface water during glaze ice accretion were conducted.

Greenland Ice Sheet Ice Slab Expansion and Thickening
We use airborne accumulation radar data acquired over the Greenland Ice Sheet between 2002 and 2018 to identify changes in ice slab extent and thickness. We show that ice slabs several meters thick were already present at least as early as 2002.

Chemical Evolution in VeLLOs [PDF]
A new type of object called "Very Low Luminosity Objects (VeLLOs)" has been discovered by the Spitzer Space Telescope. VeLLOs might be substellar objects forming by accretion.

Study of Wind Flow Angle and Velocity on Ice Accretion of Transmission Line Composite Insulators
Ice accretion on insulators in cold regions is a serious and inevitable problem for power transmission lines, which may cause over-load and icing flashover accidents and can lead to wide power outage.

Altitude Scaling of Ice Crystal Accretion
This paper describes experiments performed in an altitude chamber at the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) as the first step towards developing altitude scaling laws and procedures that will possibly allow aero-engines to be certified for operation in ice crystal clouds at high altitude by testing in sea level facilities.

Porosity formation during atmospheric ice accretion: measurements using micro-computed tomography
Atmospheric ice accretion results from the exposure of technical equipment or facilities to cold and humid environments. Supercooled droplets in a cloud can impact an airplane's surface and quickly form an ice layer. The presence of air pockets in such a
