The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Numerical simulations of ice crystal icing within a 1.5-stage compressor in an aero-engine
Ice crystal icing within aircraft engines at high altitudes significantly impacts safe operation. Due to the complexity of the structure and the thermodynamic conditions, gaining a comprehensive understanding of ice crystal icing presents a considerable ...

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Detailed atmospheric ice accretion surface measurement using micro‐computed tomography
Surfaces exposed to atmospheric cold temperature and humid environments are prone to ice accretion. Airplanes, electrical power transmission cables, and wind turbines are typical examples for which icing has to be considered.

UAV Icing: Ice Accretion Experiments and Validation [PDF]
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Atmospheric icing is a key challenge to the operational envelope of medium-sized fixed-wing UAVs. Today, several numeric icing codes exist, that all have been developed for general aviation applications.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

CO2 Ice toward Low-luminosity, Embedded Protostars: Evidence for Episodic Mass Accretion via Chemical History [PDF]
We present Spitzer IRS spectroscopy of CO2 ice bending mode spectra at 15.2 micrometer toward 19 young stellar objects with luminosity lower than 1 Lsun (3 with luminosity lower than 0.1 Lsun). Ice on dust grain surfaces can encode the history of heating

Ice crystals accretion capabilities of ONERA’s 3D icing suite
In the framework of the MUSIC-haic European project, the ONERA 3D accretion solver Film has been enhanced with ICI (Ice Crystal Icing) capabilities. These new features target different phenomena such as ice layer porosity, erosion due to ice crystals impacts, and also heat transfers with the solid surface.
