A landscape-isotopic approach to the geochemical characterization of lakes in the Kangerlussuaq region, west Greenland

open access: yesArctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research, 2018
In west Greenland, an approximate chronosequence of landscape evolution and weathering exists between the coast, which has been ice free for long periods, and more recently deglaciated areas along the present day ice margin.

Beyond the pseudo-time-dependent approach: chemical models of dense core precursors

open access: yes, 2010
Context: Chemical models of dense cloud cores often utilize the so-called pseudo-time-dependent approximation, in which the physical conditions are held fixed and uniform as the chemistry occurs.

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Response of Antarctic sea-ice algae to an experimental decrease in pH: a preliminary analysis from chlorophyll fluorescence imaging of melting ice

open access: yesPolar Research, 2018
Microorganisms confined to annual sea ice in the Southern Ocean are exposed to highly variable oxygen and carbonate chemistry dynamics because of the seasonal increase in biomass and limited exchange with the underlying water column.

Multiple paths of deuterium fractionation in protoplanetary disks

open access: yes, 2018
We investigate deuterium chemistry coupled with the nuclear spin-state chemistry of H$_2$ and H$_3^+$ in protoplanetary disks. Multiple paths of deuterium fractionation are found; exchange reactions with D atoms, such as HCO$^+$ + D, are effective in ...

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Modeling the Sources and Chemistry of Polar Tropospheric Halogens (Cl, Br, and I) Using the CAM‐Chem Global Chemistry‐Climate Model

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, 2019
Current chemistry climate models do not include polar emissions and chemistry of halogens. This work presents the first implementation of an interactive polar module into the very short‐lived (VSL) halogen version of the Community Atmosphere Model with ...
