Sixty years of ice form and flow at Camp Century, Greenland

open access: yesJournal of Glaciology, 2023
The magnitude and azimuth of horizontal ice flow at Camp Century, Greenland have been measured several times since 1963. Here, we provide a further two independent measurements over the 2017–21 period.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Measurements of ice-ice friction coefficients at low sliding velocities

open access: yesJournal of the Japanese Society of Snow and Ice, 2003

Ice-Cover and Jamming Effects on Inline Structures and Upstream Water Levels

open access: yes, 2017
River ice cover is a reoccurring phenomenon in the Northern United States every year. Sheets and layers of ice result in a rise of water surface elevation and may lead to ice jams in a river.

A dynamic ice-structure interaction model for ice-induced vibrations by using Van der Pol equation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A dynamic single degree-of-freedom ice-structure interaction model is developed based on a novel physical mechanism combination between self-excited vibration and forced vibration.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Direct determination of the air-sea CO₂ gas transfer velocity in Arctic sea-ice regions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The Arctic Ocean is an important sink for atmospheric CO₂. The impact of decreasing sea-ice extent and expanding marginal ice zones on Arctic air-sea CO₂ exchange depends on the rate of gas transfer in the presence of sea ice.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Skating on slippery ice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The friction of a stationary moving skate on smooth ice is investigated, in particular in relation to the formation of a thin layer of water between skate and ice.
