Out of the lab, into real life: Evaluating at‐home EEG self‐monitoring

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Seizure forecasting models require long‐term, high‐quality data collected in real‐life settings using noninvasive or minimally invasive devices, yet, the lack of such systems remains a major barrier to their clinical translation. Here, we aimed to evaluate the signal quality of self‐applied at‐home EEG monitoring using a wearable system in ...

Systematic regulation of immune checkpoint molecules by redox regulators CNC-bZIP transcription factors

open access: yesDiscover Oncology
Background Although oxidative stress is strongly connected to the initiation and progression of cancer, the underlying molecular pathways remain unknown.

On the feasibility of semi-algebraic sets in Poisson regression

open access: yes, 2016
Designing experiments for generalized linear models is difficult because optimal designs depend on unknown parameters. The local optimality approach is to study the regions in parameter space where a given design is optimal.

Comparison of Low‐Iodine Concentration Quantification Accuracy and Contrast‐To‐Noise Ratio Across Three Dual‐Energy CT Techniques: A Phantom Study

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, EarlyView.
Using a clinical abdominal CT protocol, all three DECT techniques accurately quantified iodine. Rapid kV‐switching achieved the lowest detectable and quantifiable iodine concentrations, while dual‐layer DECT provided the highest normalised contrast‐to‐noise ratio on 40‐keV virtual monoenergetic images.

Multinational Banking in Europe: Financial Stability and Regulatory Implications. Lessons from the Financial Crisis [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper examines whether multinational banks have a stabilising or a destabilising role during times of financial distress. With a focus on Europe, it looks at how these banks‟ foreign affiliates have been faring during the recent financial crisis. It

Giant Gravitons in Conformal Field Theory

open access: yes, 2001
Giant gravitons in AdS_5 x S^5, and its orbifolds, have a dual field theory representation as states created by chiral primary operators. We argue that these operators are not single-trace operators in the conformal field theory, but rather are ...

Reusable SERS Substrate Based on AuNP/PS‐b‐P2VP Nanocomposites With Photocatalytic Activity

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
We developed a bifunctional SERS substrate by assembling AuNPs on PS‐b‐P2VP thin films, capable of both sensitive molecular detection and UV‐assisted self‐cleaning. The platform demonstrates excellent reusability over four adsorption–degradation cycles, driven by a hot‐hole‐mediated photocatalytic mechanism without semiconductors.

Microplastics in the menu of Mediterranean zooplankton: Insights from the feeding response of the calanoid copepod Centropages typicus

open access: yesMarine Ecology, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Microplastic input into the ocean represents an increasing threat to marine biota and may endanger the functioning of marine ecosystems, especially in semi‐enclosed basins, such as the Mediterranean Sea. The size spectrum of microplastics overlaps with that of nano‐microplankton (2–200 μm), thus potentially misleading suspension‐feeding ...

Lower synovial leucocyte count and polymorphonuclear percentage reliably differentiate periprosthetic joint infection after unicompartmental knee arthroplasty

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This study aimed to determine diagnostic thresholds for synovial fluid leucocyte count and polymorphonuclear (PMN) percentage to identify the diagnosis periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) in patients with failed unicompartmental knee arthroplasties (UKAs).

Comparative diagnostic accuracy of next‐generation sequencing in different specimen types for periprosthetic joint infection: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
This meta‐analysis suggests that NGS of sonicate fluid demonstrates higher sensitivity compared to NGS of synovial fluid or periprosthetic tissue, while maintaining strong specificity, making it valuable for detecting infection. Periprosthetic tissue NGS demonstrated exceptional specificity and acceptable sensitivity, making it valuable for confirming ...
