The Karyotype of the Mexican Blindcat, Prietella phreatophila Carranza (Ictaluridae)

Copeia, 1986
The ictalurid genus Prietella was described from a single locality in northern Mexico (Coahuila) in 1954, and until very recently went largely unstudied. Cave explorers have recently uncovered new localities and a second species much farther to the south (Mexico: Tamaulipas).

First record of the black bullhead Ameiurus melas (Teleostei: Ictaluridae) in Poland

Journal of Fish Biology, 2010
The North American catfish, the black bullhead Ameiurus melas, is recorded for the first time in Poland. The origin of these fish is not clear, but their presence may be associated with unregulated introductions by anglers.

Range Extensions for Three Species of Madtoms (Noturus: Ictaluridae) in Kansas

Transactions of the Kansas Academy of Science (1903-), 1989
Collections of fishes from the Neosho River system in Kansas included apparent range extensions for three species of madtoms. On 4 September 1988, three freckled madtoms, Noturus nocturnus Jordan & Gilbert (MHP 2075; KU 22169), and one Neosho madtom, Noturus placidus Taylor (MHP 2068), were captured with a seine from a gravel riffle 0.25 mi.

Vascular corrosion replicas of chemo-baroreceptors in fish: The carotid labyrinth in Ictaluridae and Clariidae

Cell and Tissue Research, 1981
Scanning electron microscopy of vascular corrosion replicas and light microscopy revealed a pair of highly vascularized tissues, the carotid labyrinths, in the dorsal head region of the channel catfish, Ictalurus punctatus, the black bullhead, I. melas, and the walking catfish, Clarias batrachus.

Reproductive Traits of the Neosho Madtom, Noturus placidus (Pisces: Ictaluridae)

Transactions of the Kansas Academy of Science (1903-), 1994
Reproductive traits of the Neosho madtom, Noturus placidus, were studied in the Neosho River in east-central Kansas, and in static and flow aquaria from May through July 1992. Artificial substrata were placed in riffle and pool areas of the Neosho River, and in simulated riffle and pool environments in our laboratory.
