A new ideal switch model for time-domain circuit analysis

International Journal of Electronics, 1993
An ideal switch model may be needed for the simulation of various real and idealized circuits. A straightforward implementation of an ideal switch model may, unfortunately, produce a zero pivot during the circuit matrix decomposition. In order to avoid such problems a new model of the switch is proposed that retains the structure of the non-zero ...

The simulation of general circuits containing ideal switches

1987 IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 1987
Issues related to the design and use of a digital computer simulation of generai circuits containing ideal switching elements are presented. Problems due to circuit topology changes, methods of controlling the switching elements, techniques for studying transient, cyclic, steady-state, and small-signal frequency response behavior are considered.

Pressure contact IGBT, the ideal switch for high power applications

Conference Record of the 1999 IEEE Industry Applications Conference. Thirty-Forth IAS Annual Meeting (Cat. No.99CH36370), 2003
Models and experimental data are used to predict the performance of large area pressure contact IGBTs, offering ratings equivalent to the largest power conventional technology devices. Differences in the electromechanical characteristics of pressure contact devices, when compared to substrate mounted devices are reviewed, and how these influence the ...

Analysis and steady state of nonlinear networks with ideal switches

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I: Fundamental Theory and Applications, 1995
Summary: Described is an acceleration method to obtain the steady state of periodically switched networks. Special treatment is needed for switches controlled by internal variables, because the switching instant changes and its sensitivity to the network variables must be found. An example shows efficiency of the method to reach the steady state.

A Symbolic Analysis Method to Ideal Soft Switching Circuit System

2007 2nd IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications, 2007
Soft switching circuits (SSC) are strongly nonlinear system. In their analysis, Ideal switch module (ISM) is often used to improve simulation efficiency and assess the design quality, but Dirac impulse may appear. Conventional numerical circuit simulators have difficulty handling this problem and also have convergence and precision problems.

The Ideal Switch®: Glass-Based Device with Demonstrated Reliability

IMAPSource Proceedings
Menlo Microsystems has introduced a MEMS switch that utilizes both a glass substrate and a glass cap with through glass via (TGV) technology to provide an all-glass packaging solution. The MEMS switch technology, created in the R&D labs at GE, combined with an all-glass packaging solution, has resulted in the Ideal Switch®.
