Triangular Index Ratio as an Alternative Method to the Alpha Angle for Defining the Presence of Cam Morphology: A Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Cam morphology, which is a significant risk factor for hip osteoarthritis, is commonly quantified by the alpha angle (AA). This study aims to explore the potential of the triangular index ratio (TIR) to quantify cam morphology on anteroposterior radiographs by assessing the association between TIR‐defined cam morphology and the development of

Idealized Modeling of the North Icelandic Jet [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The North Icelandic Jet (NIJ) is a crucial component of the lower limb of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation, supplying one-third to one-half of the overflow water transport through Denmark Strait, including the densest portion. However, the

Real-time Simulation of Electric Switch

open access: yes机车电传动, 2012
Idealized simulation modeling methods for electric switch were studied. Possible existing stiff problem and signals transmitting logical conflict problem were settled by simple means.

Bridging Clarity and Accuracy: A Simple Spectral Longwave Radiation Scheme for Idealized Climate Modeling

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems
Parameterizing radiative transfer in climate models means navigating trade‐offs between physical accuracy and conceptual clarity. However, currently available schemes sit at the extremes of this spectrum: correlated‐k schemes are fast and accurate but ...

Quantitative Inversion of Multiantenna Ground-Penetrating Radar Data with Modeling Error Correction Based on Long Short-Term Memory Cells

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Quantitative inversion of GPR data opens the door to precise characterization of underground environments. However, in order to make the inverse scattering problem solution easier from a computational viewpoint, simplifying assumptions are often applied,

Frailty Predicts Incident Osteoporotic Fractures in Veterans with Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Background/Objective Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is associated with an increased risk of frailty and osteoporosis, but the relationship between frailty and incident osteoporotic fractures in RA is underexplored. Methods Data were from the Veterans Affairs Rheumatoid Arthritis (VARA) Registry.

Modeling buoyancy-driven circulation in an idealized tidewater glacier fjord

open access: yes, 2021
Tidewater glacier fjords are narrow, deep inlets connecting marine-terminating glaciers with the continental shelf sea. Over the recent years, the rapid mass loss of the Greenland Ice Sheet has sparked interest in these fjords due to their impacts on ...

3D Modeling of Moist Convective Inhibition in Idealized Sub-Neptune Atmospheres

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Atmospheric convection behaves differently in hydrogen-rich atmospheres compared to higher mean molecular weight atmospheres due to compositional gradients of tracers.

A Q‐Learning Algorithm to Solve the Two‐Player Zero‐Sum Game Problem for Nonlinear Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, Volume 39, Issue 3, Page 566-581, March 2025.
A Q‐learning algorithm to solve the two‐player zero‐sum game problem for nonlinear systems. ABSTRACT This paper deals with the two‐player zero‐sum game problem, which is a bounded L2$$ {L}_2 $$‐gain robust control problem. Finding an analytical solution to the complex Hamilton‐Jacobi‐Issacs (HJI) equation is a challenging task.

Adaptive Observer for Coupled Wave PDE and Infinite ODE With Sampled Data and Unknown Input: Application to Brain Hemodynamics Estimation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.
